They said they were from Barclays, pretending to be my bank. Total scam! When I asked them which bank they were with, they said Barclays but I actually use TSB. Dodgy lot.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with LLOYDS TSB, saying I might get a rebate. Problem is, I don't even bank with Lloyds. They asked me to press 5 if I wanted to know more, but I just hung up. No way I’m doing that.

Got loads of calls from this number today. Feels like it’s one of those call centres based abroad, so they probably don’t have to follow the TPS rules, but usually they’re hired by a UK firm to drum up leads. I’m really keen to figure out which company they’re doing it for so I can send them a complaint. After all, the British company should make sure whoever they hire plays by the rules. I’m planning to chat with whoever answers and see if I can get any details.

This is like the tenth time I’ve had a call from a number starting with 0843 this month. I’m using an Android and I just block all calls from those digits. Does anyone know if real businesses actually use those numbers? My phone just cuts the call straight away, but the number still shows up in the call history which I look at now and then.

Try this trick...tell em you’re with UK border agency and that their phone’s been tracked. Usually they just shut up and hang up first. Or sometimes I just ask what colour knickers they’re rocking, and they’re straight off the line. It’s hilarious!

This number rang me up and it was obviously a scam, much like those previous calls where they try to trick you into handing over details. They end up either charging money through your phone bill or directly from your bank. Watch out, it’s often the same group hiding behind different names just to steal cash. Keep a close watch on your bank statements and if you spot anything dodgy, contact your bank straight away. They’re usually quite good at sorting out any fraud that might have happened.

Today and yesterday I got the same call twice! When I picked up, there was this automated voice. Just a heads up, don’t ring them back because it’s one of those numbers that ends up costing you over a pound a minute.

So I picked up and got an answerphone saying some bank out of three supposedly owes me cash. I rang the number back and got this message: "Hello - call back service. At the end, you'll be able to opt out. Sales and Social Media Marketing South Africa - we might contact you again later. To opt out, visit www.mpsonline.org.uk." About half an hour ago, my phone rang and it woke me up even though I didn’t pick it up. It’s really frustrating because I’m based in Shanghai and it was 3 in the morning here. I needed my rest for work the next day. This number, 0843 832 0145, has called me a few times before and I always ignore it. When I’m back in the UK, I’ll look into where this number is coming from.

Got a call out of the blue claiming they’d sort me out with a free boiler. Seems a bit dodgy to me.

I mean, who just rings up to hand out a boiler for free? Felt like a total scam.

I decided to ring back, only to be greeted by a recorded voice that said, "Thank you for using the callback service, you will soon have the chance to opt out." That was enough for me - I hung up immediately and promptly blocked the number on my phone. I remain utterly baffled as to which company might be behind this!

Got a call from a guy with an English accent, said his name was Mark Taylor and that he was from some company called BBI Leeds - which I can't find anywhere. When I asked him for a phone number to call back, he just ended the call straight away. Sounds dodgy to me, watch out, might be a scam!

Today, 17th Feb 2014, my phone buzzed around 11:40am. It only rang twice before cutting off. When I returned the call, I heard a message saying something about a “call back service” and an option to opt out soon. I didn’t bother staying on and quickly blocked the number straight away.
