This number has rung me a few times today, but since it was unfamiliar, I just assumed it was one of those annoying nuisance calls - something the reviews here seem to confirm. I’m in charge of a thriving advertising, marketing and PR firm and I’m pretty good at spotting pest callers; being part of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA), we always stick to being “Legal, Decent, Honest and Truthful”. Wish more of these muppets would catch on to that!

When I’m feeling cheeky, I’ll chat with them for a few minutes, spinning some nonsense about how back in the day I could grab a sherbet and a wagon wheel for just sixpence. I mention penny chews being a penny each, but brandy balls never showed up in a 10p bag. I usually end up hanging up on them, thinking the caller must be daft. It’s quite the laugh coming up with new stories every time they ring. Our answer machine kicks in right away when the phone rings, and the message is pretty clear for any scammers to jog on. We don’t bother calling back or pressing any buttons they want us to. Got a ring from the number above today and, for once, I actually picked up instead of letting their recorded spiel run wild for the fun of it. The bloke on the other end, who was clearly a scammer, claimed I was entitled to a payout. Yay, right? But when I pressed for details on how much and what fees might be involved, he vaguely mentioned about £2000 on average, without clarifying any charges! He kept droning on about some mortgage, hire purchase, and loans I supposedly had, but once I told him none of that's true and haven't had any for years, he just hung up on me! Voice was that posh English type too - total PPI fraudster if you ask me.

I told this bloke I pressed 9, then about five minutes later he rang me again! I asked him to take me off their list, but he said it was something my bank needed. I told him I don’t even have a bank account, and then he goes, “How do you pay your bills then?” My daughter ended up chatting to him and he just hung up on her! Really pushy, rude and just plain annoying.
