I picked up when this number rang me and ended up getting billed for the call.

From 14th June 2014 onwards, using an 0843 number for customer service or after-sales support has been against the law. According to BIS rules, if you end up paying more than you should for the call, you’re entitled to get the extra charges refunded.

I reckon 'GAME' might believe their dodgy phone line is bringing in some quick cash, but honestly, the tiny profits they make from it are nothing compared to the big hit they take from customers walking away.

I called to find out when they shut up shop and only talked for about 20 seconds but got hit with a £1.60 bill! Absolutely daylight robbery! They really need to let people know it’s a premium rate number. It’s a Game store, not some dodgy chat line!

I called Game but nobody picked up, and it ended up costing me more than £5! Absolutely ridiculous, what a total rip-off. I’m never using them again and I’m definitely telling my mates and family to avoid them too!!!

Spent about three minutes chatting with Game, and honestly, trying to reach an actual person was such a drag because their automated system took forever. Then I noticed they charged me £1.80 for what felt like useless service and absolutely no help from Game at all. Really feels like a total scam to me.

I let my mate borrow my phone to apply for work experience at GAME. She ended up waiting on hold for like 25 minutes but no one ever picked up. Now I'm left with a £25 phone bill, and I always thought 08 numbers didn't cost anything!

I called this number for a game in Cannock and got stuck on hold for ages, so I finally gave up and hung up. Just that one call ended up costing me £7.50! I made five calls altogether and it came to £13.50, all from just being on hold. I never even got to talk to a person. I called up to ask about a job opportunity and ended up stuck on hold, which cost me £17.76! Totally pointless, since there weren’t any jobs available anyway. What a rip-off!

Happened the same thing to me. I got in touch with Game, and they told me they're looking into it with Google since that number isn't actually theirs. They also mentioned they can't be held responsible for any charges since the number isn’t theirs. If they know about it, I'm puzzled as to why they wouldn’t keep an eye on this to stop it happening again and again. Properly frustrating.

Absolutely daylight robbery, all I wanted was to check if my nearby gaming shop had an item in stock so I wouldn’t waste a trip and petrol. Those 0843 numbers are ridiculously overpriced, it’s a complete scandal. No clear info on the charges anywhere. Next time I’m buying anything, I’ll be steering clear of this lot, probably forever. They might have made a few quid from that call, but they've lost a customer for good. Well done, what a bunch of muppets...

I called up to order a pricey gadget and ended up paying £3.01 just to place the call. Cheers, Game, that’s the final time I’m spending a penny with you, and I’ll be telling my mates and family to watch out too. Not exactly a smart way to win customers, if you ask me.

This number leads you straight to GAME stores. I dialled them up to inquire about stock levels and to possibly reserve a game. Can you believe I was stuck on hold for a whole quarter of an hour only to have a brief chat lasting a mere two minutes? The whole ordeal cost me close to a tenner. It feels like highway robbery! How can they justify charging me for just waiting on the line? If their system is so sophisticated that it only charges when a real person picks up, then that £5-a-minute rate translates to an outrageous £300-an-hour! Seriously, who actually makes that kind of dosh? And to top it all off, this was all done without my consent and without any proper notification. This just can't be right. I'd strongly advise against calling this number; it's downright scandalous!
