Someone hijacked our business phone number and kept telling our clients to call 08431167785. BT Business was absolutely useless, just trying to push their BT Cloud service to fix my forwarding settings. But I hadn’t set up any forwarding, it was actually switched off. Cheers for nothing, BT. I used to run 14 lines with you, but I’ve just booked a meeting with One Call Telecom who can have my £1300 per month account.

I got a letter about renewing my BBC History Magazine gift subscription, then a recorded voice popped up saying the new number was 0843 116 7785. I called that number but got stuck on hold for ages. So, I tried the number on the letter again and got straight connected. Seems like a scam where they interfere with real numbers.

I tried ringing a Bristol landline three times from my mobile, and each time I got sent through to 08431167785. It felt a bit off, so I looked up the number. Watch out! I work at a telecom company and had a customer ring in saying this phone number hacked her calls. They actually listened to her phone banking conversations and somehow got into her bank account. Pretty scary stuff.

So my husband is in hospital at the moment, and this number kept ringing us like 4 times. We thought it was something urgent, but all it was, was being put on hold forever and then a £9 charge! What a waste.

I was in the midst of a conversation with Calor when suddenly a recorded message interrupted, instructing me to contact a different number. I found myself hanging on the line for a tiresome ten minutes, listening to monotonous updates about being in the queue and promising a response sooner rather than later. Ultimately, I reached my breaking point and decided to call Calor directly once more, only to discover that they were completely unaware of this hassle. BT, you need to sort this out as I refuse to take on these charges!

I got a call on Christmas Day where they actually used both my and my wife's first names, which was strange. We’d been out all day so I only got around to sorting it out on the 27th December 2016. The person on the other end asked me to ring a number in West Sussex. Since we have mates over there, I gave it a go, but then they told me to call another number, 08431167785. Once I did, I was put into some kind of queue. Knowing my friends, there’s no way they have that many mates to create a queue like that, so I hung up straight away. I was only on the line for under two minutes, but I’m still a bit anxious about what my phone bill might look like now.

My mate had called earlier saying she wasn’t the one calling, so I thought maybe her line was forwarded to someone in her family. Was trying to ring a company and this number kept cutting me off. I’ve just reported it on Action Fraud’s site since it’s police-run. Gave them all the details I could and they said the more info people send in, the easier it is to crack down on this sort of thing. Definitely worth reporting if you’ve had the same trouble.

Just today, I got a voicemail about some attendance allowance question, sounded legit at first. They gave me this number 013533337136 and said the name was Alyson something. I rang Avis on 7th November at 08082840014 to update my car rental booking. Tried calling my GP's in Aylesbury and ended up being sent to this number by some automated system. Sat listening for like 20 minutes before I just gave up and managed to finally reach the surgery. No clue how much that call cost me in the end.

I got a call from 01406 724593, and a bloke said he needed some joinery work done. Im a joiner and have a website. So I called back and got a message saying "to access this number call 084301167785". I ended up at a call centre and was put on hold, but no one ever picked up in the end.

I run a joinery biz and have a website. Got a call from some guy asking for a job. His number was 014060724593, which I realised is almost the same as mine, just one digit off. The message said "to access this number's ring 08431167785". I phoned that and waited for about 5 minutes before hanging up. Proper fed up with it!

Avoid this, total rip off! I lost almost £20 to them. They claim they’re from proper firms like BT, NHS, or BG, then when you phone the provided number, it sends you through to this line. You end up stuck on hold and can’t talk to anyone, but they keep charging you while you wait.

Watch out, this number is a total scam. I got a bill for almost £20 after being passed on from a well-known company - who said they never called me or had any record of it. I ended up hanging on the line for about two hours across three calls, and I never actually talked to a real person. That £20 charge showed up on my phone bill out of nowhere! Definitely best to avoid ringing this number.

I was trying to get in touch with a hotel abroad to confirm my reservation. A guy told me to ring this number (08431167785). I called it about four times and every time I just ended up waiting on hold. I kept going back to the hotel’s own number too, but no joy at all. Quite frustrating, really.

I dialled a number from Leicester and a bloke answered telling me to call another number instead. I rang that one a couple of times and was asked to stay on the line, but I didn’t hang about for long before I ended the call. In the end, I never got through to the person I wanted to reach.

Had been trying to reach Dumfries & Galloway NHS Appointments and was given this number as a backup instead of the usual 0300 line. Rang it a few times and got connected to some kind of answering service saying someone would be with me shortly. Waited ages, rang again, same story, four times in all. Eventually, we gave up and tried the 0300 number directly, and finally got through. Asked them about the 08431167785 number and they said they had no idea who it belonged to. Now I'm stuck waiting for my BT call records to update to see if I got charged for those calls, but if I have, it really looks like some dodgy thing going on. My advice? Definitely block this number!

I was trying to ring a mate on what I thought was a local number from my phone, but got to an answering service that told me to ring an 0843 number instead. I figured calling that would be expensive, so I just hung up. Then I gave the first number another go and actually managed to get hold of my friend with no hassle.

Like others here, I rang RG Liquorice in Cambridge about a freezer issue but got switched to this number instead. First call I was on hold for 22 minutes, told I was in a queue, and the second call I waited 15 minutes with no answer. Eventually, I phoned the company directly on their main landline and they had no clue about this number and denied any connection. Sounds dodgy to me, probably some kind of scam making money off these misrouted calls.

I was transferred to this number and ended up waiting on hold for ages. When I rang the first number again, it connected straight away. Turns out the first number had no clue about this other number diverting calls.

Tried ringing Devon County Council and some answering machine passed me on to this number. I waited in a queue for ages, but got fed up and hung up. Then I phoned the council number again straight away and got connected right away, no hassle.

So, someone rang me the other day and ended up getting a weird message. I’d actually tried calling this person the day before and left a voicemail. When they tried to ring me back, they got told my number wasn’t reachable and were told to call 08431167785 instead. No one else who’s phoned me has had this issue, so I’m thinking it might be some dodgy stuff going on with their TalkTalk provider. I’m with EE myself, so no problems here.

Every single day I'm getting calls from this company claiming there's been a computer breach, number 02838457785. They just won't leave me alone. When I tried calling the number they provided, an automated voice told me to ring that same number again! Honestly, I'd love to confront them face-to-face and find out why they keep bugging me like this. The government really needs to step up and crack down on these sorts of companies.

So, I've tried calling a mate in Lancashire several times, but each time I'm met with a message telling me to ring the number listed here. Out of curiosity, I did call it once and a woman picked up saying she was from ‘directory enquiries’. It felt dodgy to me, so I just hung up. Still no luck getting through to my friend though! When the phone rang, my husband picked up and the caller asked for me by name. Curious, I checked the number using 1471 and decided to ring them back. But after calling, a recorded message told me to call 08431167785 instead. I followed the instructions, waited in a long queue, and eventually got fed up and hung up!
