Someone hijacked our business phone number and kept telling our clients to call 08431167785. BT Business was absolutely useless, just trying to push their BT Cloud service to fix my forwarding settings. But I hadn’t set up any forwarding, it was actually switched off. Cheers for nothing, BT. I used to run 14 lines with you, but I’ve just booked a meeting with One Call Telecom who can have my £1300 per month account.

I got a letter about renewing my BBC History Magazine gift subscription, then a recorded voice popped up saying the new number was 0843 116 7785. I called that number but got stuck on hold for ages. Watch out! I work at a telecom company and had a customer ring in saying this phone number hacked her calls. They actually listened to her phone banking conversations and somehow got into her bank account. Pretty scary stuff.

I was in the midst of a conversation with Calor when suddenly a recorded message interrupted, instructing me to contact a different number. On Christmas Day, I received a rather peculiar call that mentioned both mine and my wife's first names. We were out and about, so it wasn't until the 27th of December that I managed to follow up on it. The caller requested that I ring a number in West Sussex. Since we have mates in that region, I went ahead and called. To my surprise, I was promptly handed another number to dial, 08431167785. I found myself in a queue, and considering my friends don’t possess a large enough circle to warrant a queue, I promptly hung up. My call lasted less than two minutes, but I can’t shake off the concern about how hefty my phone bill might turn out to be.

On the 7th of November, I dialled Avis using the number 08082840014 to modify my car rental reservation. An automated voice directed me to another line, 08431167785. I found myself on hold for more than eleven minutes, yet no one came on to assist me, so I eventually decided to end the call. Fast forward to the 11th of November, I gave that 0843 number another shot, only to be told I was in a queue for over sixteen minutes once more. Frustrated, I hung up again without speaking to anyone. This whole debacle seems like nothing short of a rip-off, and I've ended up with charges exceeding £4 as a result! Surely, there must be a way to address this dubious situation?

My mum’s been getting this 0843 number when she's tried to call me for about two weeks now. Thankfully, she hasn’t tried the other number. She said the phone rings four times and then a man’s voice tells her the number has changed. We tried calling our number from mobiles and it works fine, so it’s definitely some kind of scam. I’m thinking of contacting BT to get some advice. Just don’t call that 0843 number, it’ll charge you alot.

I ended up on this number after some automated nonsense while trying to reach my GP’s practice in Aylesbury. I waited on hold for a good 20 minutes before I just couldn’t take it anymore and managed to connect with my surgery. I dread to think how much all this might end up costing me!

I got a call from 01406 724593, and a bloke said he needed some joinery work done. Im a joiner and have a website. So I called back and got a message saying "to access this number call 084301167785". I ended up at a call centre and was put on hold, but no one ever picked up in the end.

As a joinery firm with an online presence, I recently received a call from a gentleman who was evidently looking to have something made. The number he rang from was 014060724593, and upon closer inspection, I realised it’s just one digit away from my own! The message I received instructed me to ring 08431167785 to connect with this caller, but after holding the line for a good five minutes, I decided to give up. Quite the peculiar experience!

This is definitely a dodgy scheme! I nearly lost £20 to these con artists. They pose as reputable companies like British Gas, BT, or even the NHS. When you dial the number they provide, you end up getting rerouted to this number instead. You can’t actually speak to a real person, and they just keep you hanging on, racking up charges while you wait. Total rip-off!

Absolute con! I was hit with a charge of close to £20 from this number after being diverted from a well-known company (who, by the way, claim they have no memory of calling me). I spent a frustrating two hours on hold across three separate calls. Not once did I manage to speak to anyone! My phone bill took a hefty hit of £20! Steer clear of this number!

I’ve been attempting to get in touch with a hotel overseas to confirm my reservation. A gentleman on the line suggested I ring this number (08431167785). I’ve dialled it four times now, yet every time I’ve just found myself stuck on hold. I persevered with the hotel’s number, but to no avail, I’m afraid. Quite frustrating, really!

I attempted to ring a number based in Leicester, but a gentleman’s voice answered, instructing me to ring this other number. I did so on two occasions, only to be met with a prompt to hold. However, I didn’t linger on the line for too long before I decided to hang up. Sadly, I wasn’t able to reach the individual I intended to speak with.

I received this number as a backup to reach out while I was trying to connect to an 0300 line for NHS Appointments in Dumfries & Galloway. After several attempts, I was directed to a different answering service that assured me I’d be connected shortly. We hung on, but alas, it seemed like an eternity. After four calls like this, we conceded defeat. Ultimately, we did manage to get through directly to the NHS Dumfries & Galloway on the 0300 number. When I inquired about the number 08431167785, they claimed not to have any record of it. I'm still waiting for my BT online call history to refresh, so I can check if there have been any charges - if there have been, it raises serious concerns that something dodgy might be afoot. I would strongly recommend adding this number to your blacklist!

I attempted to ring a mate on a local number via my mobile device, but an automated message advised me to dial this 0843 number instead. Realising that calling an 0843 would likely come with a hefty fee, I swiftly ended the call and redialled the original number. Fortunately, I managed to get through to my friend without any hiccups.

Like many others here, I found myself in a similar predicament. I contacted RG Liquorice in Cambridge to discuss an issue with my freezer, only to be transferred to this number. The first time I waited a staggering 22 minutes, only to be told I was in a queue, and the second time was no better, with a lengthy 15-minute wait. Eventually, I decided to ring the company using a standard landline, only to be told they had no knowledge of this number and that it was completely unrelated to them. It's quite concerning and feels quite dodgy; I can’t shake the idea that there’s some sort of scam at play, perhaps these sham calls are raking in money for someone out there.

I found myself directed to this number by a voicemail when I attempted to reach Devon County Council. I decided to give it a go, but ended up waiting in line for ages. In the end, I threw in the towel and dialled the original number once more, managing to connect without any hassle.

I recently had a peculiar incident with my phone. I've been inundated with calls from a phone number-02838457785-linked to a company seemingly involved in some sort of computer breach. It’s become a daily nuisance, really. Out of sheer frustration, I decided to call the number myself, only to be met with a robotic voice instructing me to dial that very same number again. If I could just confront them face-to-face, I'd love to know what drives their relentless harassment. It’s high time the government stepped in to curb these bothersome firms!

I've made several attempts to ring a mate of mine in Lancashire, but each time my call is cut off with a recorded message instructing me to call the number listed above. On one occasion, I did actually dial it, and a woman picked up saying she was from 'directory enquiries'. I had a gut feeling something was off, so I quickly hung up. I had a rather similar encounter myself. I dialled an NHS Tayside contact number, only to be met by a recorded message directing me to ring 08431167785. After that, I found myself languishing in a queue for a whopping half an hour!

My husband picked up the phone and someone on the line was specifically asking for me. I decided to use 1471 to find out who it was and gave them a call back.
