Pretty clear now it was just a scam tryin to get us to ring a premium number. Ended up costing me £5.64 for less than half a minute before I figured out it was dodgy.

I run a small business and was trying to reach someone who’d given me their phone number to arrange a time to come and see a job. I called the number, but instead of an answerphone, a voice told me to ring 0843 1163344. So, I ended the call and dialled that new number, but I just ended up on hold with a message saying 'we are trying to connect you' over and over. Later, when I spoke to the person who gave me the first number, they said they actually do have an answerphone and had no idea about this 0843 number being passed on. They’re now checking into what’s going on.

I rang my sister on what I thought was her new number but got told it had been switched to this one. Didn’t think much of it and rang again. They had me waiting on hold a few times so I just hung up. Later, I reported it to BT. Then I figured out it’s a premium rate number. When I used my sis’s real number, I got straight through with no problem. Tried again later and still no issues.

Got a call from 01442 928574 at about 7:17 in the morning, showed up as Hemel Hempstead. Answered but no one spoke, so I called back and was told to ring 0843 1163344. Rang that number out of curiosity and got told I was being diverted. Seems like just another scam. How on earth do these folks get hold of your number? It’s really not on, especially if they’re targetting older people who might end up getting caught out by this rubbish. Proper disgrace, they really should find a legit job!

I make a concerted effort to ensure my mobile phone expenses remain within my budget, yet my most recent statement has thrown me for a loop-there’s an astonishing £18.064 charge (which is nearly £20 when tax is included) for a call to this number that lasted a staggering 2 hours and 15 minutes! Honestly, the only thing I can surmise is that I might have missed a call from this number and attempted to return it, but I never stay on the line for longer than 15 or 20 minutes, even if I’m aware of the caller's identity. I recieved a message claiming to be from Lloyds, saying that there was an attempt to use my card on a new device. I tried calling the number they provided, but a recorded voice then gave me a different number to dial. When I called that one, a woman with an American accent told me to hold while she went away then put me on hold for ages, so i ended up just hanging up. Definitely a scam.

I’m proper angry right now, me mum got a call from a 0161 number and these scumbags told her she was about to be arrested for fraud. She’s vulnerable and disabled, and as soon as she told the bloke that, he just hung up on her. Got a call from 01672 475479 saying my Amazon Prime subscription was going to be charged £79.99 per month. They said if I wanted to cancel, press 1 to talk to an “Amazon manager”. I didn’t press anything but still got through to someone. I warned them I’d report it to the authorities and they quickly ended the call. Earlier, I got a call from +441764340594. I didn’t answer but then rang back just to check. After a few rings, a looped recorded voice said something like: "To claim this number, please call 08431163344, thanks." I’m definitely not calling that number! From what I know, 08 numbers are often Freephone or shared revenue non-geographic numbers, so this feels like some kind of cash grab scam by whoever runs it.

I just got a call claiming to be from my energy company, offering to switch my tariff. Sounded pretty convincing, he even knew my monthly payment. Almost got tricked until he asked for my bank branch details, then I just ended the call. Believe it or not, he rang back saying his computer was glitching and he really needed that info. I told him to get lost, knew it was a scam. Afterwards, I rang the number he called from and was sent to some 0843 number, then I caught on and hung up.

01439 555357 rang me pretending to be from UK Power Network, saying our firm had overdue electric bills. We’re in a shared building and the landlord sorts all the bills, so I told them they were talking nonsense. Just got one of those Amazon Prime scams again. These dodgy scammers are now pushing folks to ring some expensive premium rate number. They really don’t give up, keep on trying.

I received a call on our home phone from the number 01968366228 but was unable to answer it. After doing a bit of digging, I discovered nothing suspicious about it. Out of curiosity, I rang the number back only to be met with a pre-recorded message instructing me to dial 08431163344. It was obvious to me that it’s a scam.

08431163344 has gotten worse, now it's stopping me from calling a local mobile I use all the time. Tried just now 23/02/2020 about 6pm. Pretty annoying.

0940 hours on 21/02/20, had the same kinda thing happen like others mention about Amazon. I didn’t bother pressing 1 like their recorded message asked. Used 1471 and found the number was 01464 33750. Called back with 141, but just got a recorded voice saying to redial 08431163344 (this number) - which I just ignored. This makes it the third bogus 'Amazon' call I've had this week.

Got calls from a couple of different numbers this morning, both claiming to be from Amazon! When I tried checking who they really were, I found another number too, sharing it here. All of these are scams, so don’t call them! The numbers are 01214048324, 01765493511 and they said to ring 08431163344. Stay safe everyone!

This phone number connects to the original caller 0203 3895 667, who claimed I needed to call back immediately because of a lawsuit and an arrest warrant against me!!! I used 141 to block my number before calling back, hoping to check if it was a scam. The line had an automated voice telling you to call another number for the right contact, then it kept me on hold till my credit ran out, obviously trying to trap me or get personal info. Such terrible people.

Got a call from 01501446488, and when I rang back, it told me to try 08431663344. Sounds like a total scam, and when I looked it up, found it right here. Best not to call them back.

Got a call from 01952 940712 saying they were from Visa and asking me to confirm a £600 transfer to an overseas account. They wanted me to approve it, but I told them I hadn’t made that payment and it should be stopped. They kept pushing, then started asking how I get online, which made me wary. I asked why they needed info about my iPad and told them to just cancel the transaction. After that, they hung up. Tried calling back and got told to ring 08431163344 instead, but this site marks that number as risky, and I’m inclined to agree.

Got a missed call from 01896433703, rang them back and they told me to call 08431163344. Looked up that number and came across this site - definitely a scam.

I got a robocall from 01785511801 saying £49 was about to be taken from my bank account for my Amazon Prime subscription, and if I didn’t agree, I should press "1". I just hung up straight away because it smelt like a total SCAM! Out of curiosity, I called the number back and got another automated message telling me to ring 08451163344, a number mentioned loads of times on here! DO NOT PRESS "1" or engage with these people, and DEFINITELY avoid calling the 0845 number - you could end up giving fraudsters your bank info or getting hit with ridiculous phone charges!!!

Got a missed call from 01330 434 621, rang back and got an automated voice saying to ring 0843 116 3344. Didn't bother calling that number, just looked it up here instead. Pretty clear this is some sort of scam. Best to stay clear.

01599 489649 rang and left a message asking me to ring 08431163344 back. I looked up both numbers online and it turns out they're scams, so I've blocked them both now.

Got a missed call from a US number. When I rang back a blocked number told me to contact this one. I phoned and ended up waiting in a queue. Don’t pick up or ring them back - it’s definitely a scam.

Got a call from this bloke named Shaun Wilson claiming my router was acting up and he was there to fix it. I had a feeling it was a scam, so i told him to talk to my tech mate instead and then just ended the call.

This number is a premium one. Every call will set you back around 90p to 99p. Someone in my family rang it thrice!!! Proper annoying!!!

Beware of this dodgy premium rate number! You'll receive some phoney message urging you to ring them - just don’t fall for it! Each call could set you back nearly a quid. My family unfortunately got caught out for a total of £3. Steer clear!

01988305415 rang me up saying there was an issue with my internet (which there isn't) and then claimed she was just trying to help before calling me a "bloody b##ch"! Lovely behaviour.

I called 01264488968 and 01757737306 but no one answered when I picked up. Then I rang the second number again and got a voicemail asking me to ring 08431163344. I didn’t bother calling back.

The number 01617604000029879424 rang my elderly mum early in the morning, about 1:35 AM, claiming to be from Amazon and saying she had to update her info (she’s never used Amazon). I rang it back and got a voicemail telling me to contact 08431163344. I looked it up online and saw loads of scam reports, so there’s no way I’m phoning them again!

I got a call from 01286 417271 saying they was from BT, told me my internet was at risk and would be disconnected soon. When I rang them back, they sent me to 08431163344. It's definitely a scam since I dont even have BT broadband!!

I received a rather alarming call from this number, 01546241514, suggesting that there was some sort of Tax Fraud issue associated with my name. They insisted that if I didn’t press 1, I’d be facing arrest. Naturally, I decided to ring the initial number back but was directed to 08431163344, where they simply put me on hold. A bit suspicious, wouldn't you say? To make matters worse, I ended up getting two separate calls about this so-called “Tax Fraud” within just 12 minutes, both from different numbers - the second being 02042001380. Quite the coincidence!

I got a call on my mobile from 01546341495 saying it was HMRC and that I was under investigation. They told me to press 1 or I’d be arrested soon. I called back the number from my landline and a message told me to ring 08431163344 instead. I’ve had similar calls before from 0154673896 and 01546066202 with the same scary messages. I’ve blocked all these numbers now and emailed HMRC about it at [email protected] to report the scam.

I've received calls from this number for the past couple of days. The individuals on the other end claimed I was at risk of being arrested for tax evasion unless I took immediate action. Thank goodness I decided to investigate this number, as it seems they exploit various excuses to get people to ring them back. Their threats of arrest tend to instil fear, even among those who are wise enough to know they’re in the clear. It's clear to me this is a fraudulent scheme. If you happen to block the initial number, they just switch it up and try again, using 01546-249734 or 01546 787208. Definitely a scam...!!!!!!
