I found this number on Google when I was trying to get in touch with Google about my email not working. A man answered, and after I gave him my email and birthdate, he took control of my computer. He claimed my email was hacked and asked for £78 to sort it out. I told him Apple already takes care of security on their devices, but he insisted all my gadgets were compromised and said it had to be fixed. I said no and refused to pay, so he shut down everything he’d opened. Now I’m really worried since he had access to my computer. I'm planning to call Apple tomorrow because I can’t seem to find a way to actually reach Google to report what happened.

So, my wife got a call about her Yahoo Rocket Mail premium service. She let them on her computer, but when they asked for £90 and she said no, the bloke just hung up on her straight away.

On 3rd July 2016, I rang this number because I couldn’t send or get emails from my Gmail. The person on the other end said my account was active in Russia and that fixing it would set me back £120. I asked if he could just shut down my account to stop anyone using it, but he said there was no way unless I paid up. When I questioned him further, he just ended the call.

My grandma got a call supposedly from talk21 about changing her password. The person on the other end said he’d looked into her email and claimed her computer was full of viruses. But seriously, how can anyone figure out what software you have on your computer just by checking a cloud email account? It doesn’t make sense at all.

I came across this number while looking online for help with my Yahoo password. When I called, the person on the other end asked me to install some app named support.me and then wanted to access my computer directly. It seemed off to me, so I just ended the call immediately.

Got a call about my Facebook being hacked, apparently to 'secure' my account. Some messages had been sent out asking mates for PayPal info - obviously a scam. The guy on the phone sounded like he was drooling over the thought of cash.

He claimed hackers accessed my account through the 'server' and that he needed to fix the security there, charging me £100.

Total nonsense and an obvious rip-off! None of what he said added up at all!

I got a call from someone claiming to be Facebook support because apparently my Facebook was disabled. They wanted me to install some kind of 7 layer network security program. When I asked if it cost anything, they said it’d be a single fee of £150. I just hung up straight away.

I called this number because I couldn’t get into my account. They told me some hacker got in and a software engineer had to fix and upgrade the security, costing £89! I hung up right away. Sounds like they would’ve asked for my card info next. Definitely seems like a scam to me!

Got a ring from someone claiming to be Yahoo Support, but the person never even properly introduced themselves. When I explained the issue, the advisor jumped to asking if I knew anyone in Nigeria, saying my email was being used by someone there and loads of other things were compromised. He insisted I needed security fixed immediately, and when I asked if it would cost me anything, he confirmed there was a fee. He cut me off and hung up before I could even say a proper goodbye.
