So I got a letter from Barclaycard about some refund because of charges on an old credit card that shouldn't have been there. They just wanted me to confirm my address, mobile number, and a reference from the letter. Nothing else was asked, just simple confirmation stuff.

I recently got a letter from Barclays and I can say for sure it’s completely legit.

Just a heads up, 0808 169 8147 is NOT Barclays. When you ring it, the greeting sounds just like the Barclays welcome message, but trust me, it’s not. I checked my account and there was no record of any call from the bank earlier today. Barclays would never ring you up asking to verify your security info over the phone; they usually send letters instead. To be safe, always use the official Barclays number 08457 345 345. Don’t get caught out by nasty scammers and fraudsters out there!

definitely barclays - just head over to their site and pop the number into their phone checker - it shows as legit - don’t be daft, give them a ring, you never know what it might be about

i just got a call from barclays out of the blue, never gave them the go-ahead to ring me. i’m guessing it’s about that loan payment break i agreed on a while back. now i’m on some blacklist apparently!

This number isn't a scam, if you want proof just look it up on Barclay's official site, it shows it's a genuine department of the bank.

I was told it was a private number from Barclays, meant to follow up on loans. I didn’t feel right sharing any info, so I just hung up.

back in december 2018, barclays sent out letters to quite a few customers about loan affordability issues. turns out they messed up with some loans, giving them to folks who maybe shouldn’t have got them, so now they’re reviewing all loans from that period. the letter said they’d call within eight weeks, which they’re starting to do now. it’s not a scam or anything, just pretty frustrating, especially since the first couple of calls didn’t even leave a voicemail.

Got a ring from someone claiming to be Barclays, chatting about a “letter” supposedly sent back in December. They asked for personal details to “verify” my info. Quite sneaky really - makes you think you missed some post before Christmas and fall for the trick.

I got a call from 0808 169 8147 claiming to be Barclays about some letter they supposedly sent me in December 2018. When i asked what it was about, they couldnt tell me unless i gave them my personal info, which i wasnt about to do with a random number i didnt know. The guy told me to either google the number or visit a Barclays branch and call from there. If its a scam, it’s pretty frustrating and a waste of my time having to go down to my bank for nothing!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Barclays, asking me for my pin and password. I know Barclays would never do that, so I just hung up straight away. Definitely a scam.
