Called me, after a few seconds I heard "Hello is (Company director) there please?" I told them I don't accept any cold calls, and as soon as I said that, they just dropped the call. Total waste of time.

Had some bloke from a call centre ring me, gave his name and said he was with a telecoms company. I told him I hadn’t dealt with them before, so the call was dodgy and against the law. He hung up, fingers crossed he doesn’t bother me again.

Got a call on my mobile at 12:26 today - the person knew my full name and said his name was Andrew (not sure I believe that!). He wanted to discuss phone calls or bills or something like that. Since I didn’t give any personal details, he just said ‘thank you, goodbye’ and hung up. Could have turned out worse, but I’ve blocked the number on my phone just in case.

Had loads of calls from this number last week and now again today. I nicely asked them to stop calling and to delete our number from their list. He politely asked if he could explain why he was calling before I decided to keep him off the list. I stayed quiet and didn't reply, just let him say 'hello' three times until he finally gave up and hung up. I’m pretty sure they’ll try again, though.

They said they were calling from XLN, but you could tell straight away it was some call centre abroad, not local at all. XLN's supposed to be UK based. They were really annoying and kept pushing hard. I managed to end the call, but I reckon they would have eventually asked for bank info or similar. I double-checked with XLN and they swore it wasn’t them.

Some bloke said he was from XLN, my business internet provider, asking if I wanted to boost my broadband speed. When I told him I already had the fastest deal going, he then tried to sell me an extra line. If he really worked for my ISP, you'd think he'd know what plan I'm on already.

Some Indian telecom call centre kept ringing, trying to switch our phone lines over. The person on the other end didn't seem to understand a word I said, and after I wasted their time going back and forth, she just hung up on me. They clearly don’t know what they’re talking about - I work in telecoms, so I’m pretty sure of what we’ve got and what they were trying to do. Honestly, steer well clear of these lot.

The call was all jumbled up, I had to pick up the answerphone and listen a few times. They mentioned something about my computer shutting down due to a security alert. Since my virus protection was nearly up for renewal, I figured it might be legit, especially as it was an 0800 number. Usually, you just ignore these sort of messages but this one made me second guess. Definitely felt like a scam though.

Got a recorded message saying my Microsoft Windows licence was nearly expired and I was at risk of viruses or something. The number they gave started with 808, which made me think it was from the US, but after checking with 1471, it turned out the actual callback number began with 0808, which is a freephone. I haven’t bothered calling it back, but I did report it to the telephone preference service since my number should be on the do-not-call list. Calling back seems dodgy, probably they'll try to control my PC and get access to my private info, so please don’t ring that number.
