Beware, folks. Got a call saying my laptop was locked and to contact Microsoft support. Rang the number they gave and ended up speaking to someone who sounded really legit and asked if they could get into my laptop. I wasn’t having any of it and said no, felt fishy. Decided to look into it more and found out all this scam stuff. Really grateful for the info here, it saved me from getting caught out!

I was trying to find info about dog pregnancy and accidentally ended up on a dodgy website. Suddenly, a message popped up saying that if I closed the page, all my files and work might be lost. Worried, I dialled the number on the alert and got a bloke with an Indian accent. I let him take control of my computer, where he showed me loads of fake warnings. Then he said I owed $109, probably thinking I was from the US, and started throwing around rude words. After that, he asked for my bank info. Total scam!

My computer suddenly popped up a virus warning telling me to ring 08081017269. It claimed my computer was blocked and warned me not to close the window or reboot, or I'd lose all my files. Smells like a scam to me.

While trying to get onto the Scottish Widows site, I kept getting redirected to a fake version, and then a message popped up saying my PC was infected and I should call Microsoft. I rang the number on the screen and ended up speaking with a friendly man from Asia. He helped me by installing Supremo protection on my laptop after I let him access it remotely. He left a file on my desktop with info like:

While browsing on Google Chrome, I clicked on a link that was supposed to show soil compositions, but instead, a blank screen popped up with a message saying, "Your computer is blocked and you’re unable to use it. Ring 08081017269 to unlock your PC." There was also some kind of code displayed on the page. I decided to call the number, and an Indian guy called Bikash answered. He asked me a few questions then told me I needed to pay £50 to secure my computer for a year. Seemed a bit fishy to me.

I got this Microsoft warning that completely froze my laptop. I rang the number they gave and spent ages going through loads of stuff with them. They seemed proper helpful and sold me some deal for 3 years at £178 plus VAT. They even phoned me the next day, which seemed alright. Didn’t really suspect anything until my laptop started acting weird and I realised it was riddled with viruses. Total scam, mate. Took it straight to PC World to get them off along with whatever dodgy software they put on.
