Got a robocall saying it was from the Water Company. It asked me to confirm if I was the person they mentioned by pressing 1 for yes and 2 for no. They even got the name wrong, but I ended the call because it felt dodgy. I’m letting them know about it as I reckon older folks or vulnerable people might fall for it - nearly fooled me!

Yep, Anglian Water trying to chase up an unpaid bill. Bit daft the way they go about it, I’d honestly just assume any call like this is a scam cos most times that’s what they really are.

Got a call claiming to be from Anglian Water, sounded quite legit at first, but I found it odd they asked straight away for my card details to clear the bill. Felt a bit off, luckily I knew I usually pay by direct debit so I didn’t fall for it. This sort of thing can be risky and might give scammers a way in. Anglian Water really should rethink how they handle these calls.

I've received calls - six of them, to be precise - requesting confirmation of a £600 transaction to some overseas destination. Can you believe it?! They even prompted me to press 1 for further information! Naturally, I didn’t engage and promptly hung up. Following that, I swiftly checked my bank account, as I hadn’t transferred any funds to anyone. Thankfully, everything is perfectly fine with my finances. Just felt the need to warn everyone about this!

Lately, ive been getting calls where the number they say they’re calling from doesn't match the one I get when I check with 1471. But when I use 1572, which is BT’s Call Blocker, the number from 1471 isn’t even recognised so BT’s system cant block it automatically. Ive had to ring BT myself to get them to block these calls. Since this trick with ‘double’ numbers is happening more often, probably to hide who’s really calling, ive taken mates from the Fraud Squad’s advice seriously and now treat all these calls as suspicious and dangerous.

I paid my bill online yesterday and today got two calls asking me to press "one" to confirm my name. The calls seemed fishy so I just hung up. Honestly, I don’t trust Anglian Water at all - they come across as really dodgy and just wanting to squeeze every penny out of you. Unfortunately, we don’t have much choice with them like we do with other companies.

it was anglian water but you should at least get the impression it’s not a scam. They didn’t even mention our account number. not the smartest way to remind us about a bill we just forgot to pay. would’ve been better if they just told us to call their payment line. typical big company, slow to fix problems but fast to hassle people.

0800 8838919 is actually an automated message from Anglian Water. They ask for card info and the postcode digits. I called the official number on their site (0800 145145) and they said it was legit. Like others pointed out, with all the scam calls going around nowadays, it feels a bit off to handle bill payments this way. The call centre person told me there's a chance you might still get more reminders or texts even after paying through that method, so best just to disregard those follow-ups.

19 february 2019, strange one. i picked up and got this automated voice saying, "this is a message for," then it mentioned a name i didnt know. sounded like maybe polish or russian or something. i said nothing back and just hung up when i heard the name cuz i figured it was just a spam call.

Today, I received a call where they requested that I input just my postcode digits. After that, they claimed I had an outstanding amount of £189.90 and wanted payment via debit card. Unsurprisingly, I chose not to comply.

Anglian Water keep ringing me, its been 4 calls today and its nearly 8 in the evening. Proper harassment if you ask me! They’re fast enough when chasing up bills, but when it comes to fixing things, they’re super slow. Our road has been shut for more than 3 months just for a minor repair. Honestly, they owe us some sort of compensation for all this hassle!
