Watch out for this SSE scam, it’s really clever. They’ve got your name and address all sorted out so it looks proper legit. The bill shows up looking cheap, under £60, so it’s easy to fall for and want to pay straight away. But if you do, you’re just throwing your cash away - some joker’s probably enjoying drinks on a beach somewhere with your money. Honestly, it’s the sneakiest scam I’ve come across.

Got a call from some automated system claiming to be from SSE, trying to trick me into handing over my bank info and security codes to "pay" a bill. Thing is, my electric company is BULB ENERGY, not SSE. Sounds like a classic scam to me - just another one of those dodgy crooks looking to drain your account. If SSE actually wanted payments, wouldn’t they have real people you could talk to first instead of leaving it all to some robot asking for full access to your bank? Proper scammers, honestly.

Got a few messages saying I needed to pay my electric bill, including a link. The amount seemed way too much for a place I haven’t even set foot in because of COVID. I did follow the link outta curiosity, and while the site seemed legit, I was wary since I haven’t actually set up an account with SSE yet. Guess it was one of those scams, so I searched the number online. No idea how they got my phone, but honestly, I’m just gonna stick to getting bills in the post from now on!

I reckon scammers must’ve managed to nab your phone number from SSE somehow - maybe they hacked their system and grabbed customers’ info including numbers. SSE will likely deny it, but I’m convinced it’s true. Because bank info is usually protected with layers of encryption, they probably don’t have access to that. Instead, they send messages with links that, when clicked, direct you straight to their dodgy scam sites.

I got a bit worried cause the charge they tried to make was quite steep for a place that's actually empty. Instead of just paying up, I decided to check the meter readings first and was planning to call them to sort payment.
