Got a dodgy call pretending to be from Monzo, saying someone tried to spend £700 at John Lewis on my card. They text you first, then ring up and during the call you get a Monzo alert asking you to approve or deny the transaction. I reckon they’re banking on folks just hitting approve out of habit since Monzo users get those notifications all the time. Proper sneaky phishing scam if you ask me.

I got a call not long ago from a lady claiming to be from my other bank, telling me there’d been some fraud on my account. I accidentally mentioned I have a Monzo account too. Then, just a couple of days later, I got another call supposedly from Monzo’s fraud department. I ended the call right away ’cause I had the feeling the original call from NatWest was dodgy, and this one sounded just as fishy. Honestly, steer clear of this number!

So, I've found out this number is actually Monzo's, but somehow scammers still manage to ring you pretending to be from their fraud team. I rang Monzo today and they told me they NEVER call customers directly, always get in touch through the app. I had some odd credit check happening on my card, then got a call straight away from a dodgy number (08008021281). The bloke almost had me fooled when he said to check the number on my Monzo card and it matched. He even tried to say he'd get in touch with my other banks about possible fraud on my account.

I got a call from a person claiming they were from Monzo, but the line was super clear so I thought it was legit. Then she hung up pretty quickly and called back claiming to be from HSBC, which is actually my real bank. Weirdly, the number on my phone switched to HSBC’s customer service. That immediately set off alarm bells for me, so I played along for a bit. They even rattled off my security number from my card and tried to make a payment, pushing me to give them the PIN my bank had texted me. I hung up straight away and cancelled my card right after.

He insisted that I move my funds to a different account and said I'd be compensated because of identity theft. He seemed to know a lot of details about me.

Today my boyfriend got a call from this number saying his account had been compromised. They told him to create a new account straight away and move all his funds over the phone. They seemed legit since they knew loads of info like his security question. After doing what they said, he hung up and we started to think it was dodgy. Today, I got a phone call from this number, and the person said they were from Monzo. They told me there was suspicious use linked to my gym membership, mobile phone contract, and an Amazon charge over £600. Shockingly, they even knew the last few digits of my long card number and my account number. For “security,” they asked me to verify my birthday and told me to log into the app to prove they had access to my account. I ended the call straight away. It was pretty unsettling that they already had so much personal info about me.

Scam alert!! I got a call from 0800 802 1282 claiming to be from Monzo, saying my account had been compromised. The guy told me he’d block my current account and give me new Monzo account details. Then he tried convincing me to move all my funds from my main account to this supposed new Monzo account. Luckily, I looked up the number and, thanks to some of the reviews here, I just ended the call. I reckon they wanted me to transfer everything to a fake Monzo account. Creepy thing was, they already had my full name, address, dob and email - which honestly freaked me out:/

Scam alert! I got a notification about a suspicious card check on my Monzo which I never did. Soon after, this bloke rings up pretending to be from Monzo saying there's been dodgy activity from a Samsung phone near Coventry. Creepiest bit? He already knew my email and address! Got a sketchy call from someone claiming to be Monzo. They sent me a text saying my card had fraud charges in Birmingham, two different amounts. The bloke was pretty pushy, told me he’d email a login link and wanted me to forward it back so they could “cancel” my online banking and boost security to level 2 - total nonsense. The calls came first from a private number, then from 08008021281 and 08008021282. They seemed desperate and couldn’t really answer simple questions about my account. Felt off straight away.

Got a robo call claiming to be from Santander about a problem with my account. They told me to press any number to proceed, which I did, then it asked for my birth year - shockingly, mine was on the list! I just hung up straight away. This number has rang both my mobile and landline, so they must have loads of my details already, which is really creepy. I rang my actual bank and they said it was definitely a scam. TOTAL RIP-OFF! They said they were from the HMRC Tax Fraud team. Honestly, I was naive and ended up losing £1389 today - then they attempted to withdraw an extra £2000 from my account. I’m gutted, especially as a single mum, that was meant to cover rent and food for us this month (I even had to use my savings to cover everything). I've reported it to Action Fraud and informed my bank, MONZO.
