I gave them a ring and it matched the number listed on their official site, just in case anyone wants to flag a possible scam. Bit upsetting to see folks being told it’s a scam number when it’s not.

I got a call back from this number after I reported a finance firm to the Financial Conduct Authority. Apparently, scammers have faked this number before, so it made me cautious. The caller, who confirmed they were from the FCA, knew who I was and only asked to verify my email and phone number before discussing my online complaint. Just a heads up, never hand over any bank info if you suspect a number might be spoofed. But as far as I can tell, this number really belongs to the FCA.

This morning I got a call from this very number, but this time the woman said her name was Victoria Jakobs, not Clarke. When she asked me for the security code on the back of my card, I instantly knew something was off and told her I wasn’t gonna give that info. She kept insisting it was needed to process a £160 refund, but I made it clear I never share those details with strangers. After that she just ended the call!

On Saturday 8th Feb, I got a call from a woman who said her name was Victoria Clarke. She told me an insurance firm owed me £180 and wanted my Mastercard info to send me the money back. Then she asked for the three security digits on the card, which I wasn’t comfortable giving at all. Why would they need those for a refund? Aren’t they just for making payments? She also mentioned her number was 08001116768 but said she was working from home or something like that. Felt a bit fishy to me.

Just got a call from someone named Victoria Clarke on 07415118379 claiming there’s a £180 refund from a white goods insurance policy. She told me to verify her info by calling 08001116768, which is actually a real number. She rang me on my mobile late last night and got really annoyed when I started asking questions and refused to share any of my details. She immediately ended the call. Glad to have dodged that one - total scammer!

Got a call from a woman named Victoria Clark, she insisted on spelling it with an 'e', claiming she was from some Financial Services. She told me I was due £297 - something about three years of premiums at £97 each for a scam their firm had supposedly shut down. Sounded just like what others have mentioned here. She asked if I wanted the refund sent to my credit or debit card, but I told her I don’t hand out card details over the phone. The call started as an unknown number, but she then gave me a contact number. When I refused to share my card info, she just hung up on me.

Got a phone call from someone claiming to be Victoria Scott, saying she wanted to pay me back for a drainage insurance I supposedly took out nearly a decade ago. She asked for my bank info, but I said I never share that over the phone and asked if she could send a cheque instead. Then she just hung up on me. They kept their number hidden when they called. The person claimed to be from the Financial Services Authority and even gave a number. They said they wanted to give back some money from 2013 or 2014 to stop annoying calls. Then they asked for my card info to process it. Definite scam alert!

Some bloke called himself Thomas Wilson and said he was ringing from NewDay Ltd about John Lewis stuff. He started asking loads about my bank info and other savings accounts, which I wasn’t having any of. When I told him to jog on, he just shouted a horrible insult at me and dropped the call. Proper rude!

Got a call the day after receiving a dodgy Evri phishing email. The bloke on the line had a Scottish accent and said some person from overseas, pretending to be AMEX, had been in touch with him claiming to be me. He went over some fake purchases and said my account had been frozen. Then he passed me onto a guy claiming to be from the FCA called Richard, who wanted details of all my accounts and told me to move the money from my current account into another one. He said he’d ring back at 4pm to check if I had my card reader ready. I just hung up straight away.

I got a call this evening from 08001116768 claiming my Monzo was being used miles away when it definitely wasn’t. The caller tried to convince me to move all my money from every bank, even savings and overdraft, into my Monzo account because it was supposedly “covered by insurance”. I played along and said I’d sent all my cash to a mate’s account, then I hear him swear before he cut me off. Be really careful and don’t share any details unless you’re absolutely sure who’s on the other end.

I wasn’t having any of it and refused, but the woman kept insisting it was important to stop any fraud on my account. I made it clear I don’t share any phone or password info with callers I can’t verify. I also told her I’d be reporting the call and the number. She just said they might ring back later. I ended the call and will be blocking the number now.

Today I got a ring from this number claiming to be from the FCSA. I checked with my bank and they told me it’s a scam. Apparently, they try to trick you into handing over some ‘bait’ cash to lure the real crooks, saying they’ll get your money back. Don’t fall for it, it’s a total con.

A person kept telling me I’d been scammed and there was money owed to me. Naturally, they asked for my bank info. Luckily, I keep track of all my payments and when I mentioned disputing the so-called “lost funds”, they just hung up. I tried the 1471 service but the call showed as number withheld. Some bloke who claimed to be David Lewis from Aviva Management called me. I rang Aviva afterwards and found out he was a total fraud trying to con people out of cash with fake investment schemes. Properly slick scam, so be careful and don’t get caught out.

Got an email out the blue saying my loan was approved and I needed to send my bank info by email. So, I called the number back and some bloke with a foreign accent picked up. He was pretty rude, telling me he was busy and couldn’t chat because of COVID-19, and insisted I just email my details to get the cash. Didn't feel right at all, especially since I never asked for a loan in the first place. Definitely dodgy, watch out for this lot!

Got a call earlier from someone claiming to be from Visa, saying something about a payment of £999 to Argos needing verification. The guy had a Scottish accent and sounded nice enough, but when I asked for details about who he actually was, he just kept insisting he was from Visa verification. Felt a bit iffy about it, so I just ended the call and came here to see if it was dodgy. Sounds like it was a scam.

When they asked if I was Mr xxxx, which is actually my wife’s last name and not mine, I just said everything was fine and they could proceed. We’ll be keeping an eye on our bank over the next few days, but I’m pretty sure this was just a scam.

I got a call from a bloke with a British accent claiming to be from my bank’s fraud team. He told me there were some weird transactions happening and asked if I could verify them. I told him I’d ring my bank myself. Then he said he’d approve the transactions unless I confirmed with him right away. I just hung up straight away. Total scam, no doubt about it.

Got a call from 0800 1116768 earlier claiming to be from my bank’s fraud team. They told me someone tried to withdraw £15,000 from my account and asked me to log in right away. I told them I’d call my bank straight away to check if it was legit. The bloke offered to give me the bank’s number, but when I said I already had it and hung up, he called me back. I didn’t pick up. What a load of rubbish, total scum!

This number just rang my work earlier claiming to be from Visa Verification and said they’d halted a £15,000 transaction. I asked some questions but they couldn’t really answer. So I hit '1471' to find out the number and then got in touch with my bank’s fraud team to confirm it wasn’t legit.
