Got a call from someone claiming to be tech support - don’t let them anywhere near your computer!

If you're looking for a bit of a laugh, try ringing this number and just stay quiet or play along with them. Since it’s a free call for you, it’ll actually cost them. Plus, while they’re stuck chatting with you, they can’t scam anyone else.

A message popped up on my screen so I rang the number but it sounded a bit dodgy, the bloke asked what model my computer was and I replied windows 10 then it hit me, it was a total scam. I hung up and looked up the number on Google and ended up here, so glad I didn’t carry on with the call.

SCAM ALERT. Turn off your computer right away and find REAL assistance. If you let them in, they can view and steal your private information.

Wow, total scam!!! I feel so silly for almost falling for it. Thankfully, I didn’t give them any cash! So lucky!

Just like what others mentioned here. I rang the number but quickly realised they were up to no good. So I opened task manager and shut down chrome straight away.

My laptop suddenly froze and I couldn’t do a thing. This voice kept repeating, saying my IP was under attack, claiming to be from Microsoft support. Would definitely not recommend calling them.

What if I let them take control of my PC?

Just like everyone else, my computer screen locked up and a message popped up with an audio telling me to call a "Microsoft certified technician" at this number. It was proper frightening and I couldn’t shut it or do anything at all. I tried ringing the number but got a recording saying they weren’t answering right now! Fingers crossed the scammer had dashed off for a break and I won’t get hit with a huge phone bill. Really hope someone tracks them down and gives them a good telling off.

Total rip off, definitely a scam.

Total con, dont answer! They try to get you to scan your PC and ask for remote access but never give any real ID or proof who they are. Then they just drop the call! Dont fall for it, loads of people are getting scammed by these lot. If you’ve got Norton or any decent antivirus, your PC is safe and no harm done! Just restart after a scan and you’ll be sorted.

SCAM ALERT!!! Please don't ring this number and for god's sake don't share your card details. They got hold of my 14 year old son and kept him on the phone for almost an hour. I'm honestly worried sick about the phone bill that's gonna show up.

Got a msg that just locked up my phone, wanted loads of info then claimed my laptop was hacked. They asked for £150 and my card info but thankfully I realised it was dodgy and didnt hand anything over.

So I just got a message popping up on my screen saying my laptop had a koobface virus and they wanted my bank details. I told them I only had 60 quid, and the guy was like, "Give it here." Luckily my missus stepped in and said it was supposed to be an official Microsoft call. Seriously, don’t get fooled by this sort of thing!

A pop-up appeared on my iMac with a voice saying my browser was blocked because of a 'pom virus' trying to nick my photos, passwords and other personal info. It told me not to restart my PC and gave this number to call - 0800 098 8506, “toll free”, plus an error code to quote to the agent: 12fr 50000 rt11c. I was like, hang on, I don’t even go on porn sites. So I looked up the number on the internet and sure enough, it’s a scam. Didn’t bother calling them.

I let them have remote control, does this mean they can still get into my computer whenever they want? I'm honestly really worried, this feels awful :(

Got caught out by a scam and shared my info, but luckily my bank spotted it quick, blocked the transactions and cancelled my cards. Now I’m not really sure what I should do with the computer.

Being daft, I phoned the number and gave them remote access. Then this second bloke asked for my email and phone number. I got suspicious, told him I wasn’t comfortable sharing that info, and they just hung up. Now I’m stuck running antivirus and firewall scans. Bloody scammers.

Just got a message claiming my router had a virus and they wanted £220. Rang my internet company and they told me it was a scam. Fair play to Sky for clearing that up, I was suspicious anyway.

My laptop started showing weird stars and then just froze up, telling me to ring a certain number. When I called, it was obviously a scam with someone pretending to be from Windows 10 support. Total rubbish!

I just wiped Google Chrome and put it back on, but guess what, the same problem popped up again pretty quick. So, I’ve gone ahead and completely removed it from my computer. Switched to Firefox now and it’s been running smoothly without any issues.
