9 yearsIn April 2017, I lodged a complaint with the police through Action Fraud regarding the fraudulent activity. I submitted all the evidence necessary, including the phony company address and the front office location in Swindon. Unfortunately, Action Fraud failed to take any action regarding the matter. Just last week, I received another phone call from someone requesting access to my computer. Sensing that it was a fraudulent attempt, I immediately confronted them and they abruptly ended the call. The caller's number was 02032901740, which is identical to the one mentioned before. Once again, I informed Action Fraud about this incident, but it seems they will not be taking any further action.Action FraudSwindon9 yearsOn the 10th of March, last Thursday, I had to contact Norton because they charged me twice for my yearly subscription. I decided to look them up on the internet and mistakenly thought I was communicating with Norton. It turns out I was talking to a group of scammers. I allowed them access to my laptop, but eventually realized that something was not right. The next day, I reached out to the actual Norton, and on the same day, after the scammers had already accessed my laptop, I received a call asking if I had sent them a £350 cheque. Needless to say, I am seeking advice from others who suggest ignoring their frequent phone calls (they have been calling me at least 4-5 times a day). Norton advised me not to pay them or send a cheque. It will be interesting to see if they take legal action against me for an unpaid bill.Norton9 yearsEarlier this morning, we received a call from a different number than our usual office phone. There was an individual with an Asian accent speaking in the background amongst the sound of other people with similar accents in what sounded like an office setting. This person specifically asked for our Managing Director by name and claimed that we had made a payment of £554 last year for computer support. They stated that our computer now required an update to enhance its security, emphasizing the importance of protecting its integrity. Their persistence was notable, as they tried to persuade me without much success. Eventually, they declared their intention to keep calling until they spoke to the intended recipient mentioned earlier. I searched for any evidence of the alleged transaction but found no record whatsoever. I am quite confident that this is indeed a scam attempt.9 yearsSeventeen hours ago, just like my friend 'Anonymous,' I experienced the exact same situation! I am grateful for the warning and for helping me identify what seemed like a scam, although I was uncertain. Like 'Anonymous,' I received a call informing me that my identity had been stolen, both in Nigeria and Baltimore. The person appeared quite convincing, except for the fact that the call supposedly originated from Seattle, yet had an obvious Indian accent (which I noticed while speaking to various individuals on this number). They also directed me to a company in Kent to resolve the issue. Thankfully, I cut off contact before getting further involved. This is definitely something to avoid! It has been extremely stressful...AnonymousNigeriaBaltimoreSeattleKent9 yearsI believed that I was in contact with 'avast', who supposedly refunded my enrolment fee onto my credit card. However, the individual transferred me to a person named Scottish, who is located in Kent. The conversation went on for at least 45 minutes while they accessed my computer and demonstrated their actions, revealing that 67 individuals had infiltrated my system. One of the individuals identified themselves as Peter Morris, while the other, Alastair, provided me with the number 08000465226 to call back when I mentioned that Mrs. Shaughnessy was unavailable. They requested that I provide them with the address 99 Rectory Road, Deal, Kent CT14 9NB for the cheque's delivery. This morning, I received another phone call, but I promptly hung up.KentPeter MorrisAlastairShaughnessyRectory RoadDeal9 yearsBeware of the following phone numbers: 08000988371, 08000988569, 08000903871, 08000901004, and 02032901740. These numbers are associated with the UK Daily Tech company, which has a suspicious registered office. Interestingly, the individuals who contacted me sounded Asian but had English names, which aligns with similar experiences shared by others. Although they claimed to be experts, they were unable to resolve the issues with my computer. It makes me wonder whether they possess genuine computer skills or if their intent is simply to deceive people into revealing their passwords and taking control of their computers and email accounts. Therefore, let's be cautious when it comes to safeguarding our passwords.UK Daily Tech10 yearsI decided to call the AVG freephone number for assistance, but instead, I ended up contacting Database Infotech and they claimed to have cleaned my computer, charging me a considerable amount of money. However, after reaching out to Action Fraud, I was relieved to find that they were extremely helpful and confirmed that I had indeed fallen victim to a scam.Database InfotechAction Fraud10 yearsBeware of this fraudulent organisation and refrain from engaging with them. Unfortunately, today I fell into their trap when I believed I had called AVG on a toll-free number, only to find out that it was a scam. They claimed that my computer was infected with a virus from Nigeria and demanded £399 to remove the virus from my devices, and asked for a cheque to be sent to an address in Deal Kent. My advice is to not get lured by these toll-free numbers; instead, contact your service provider through the official internet link found on their authentic website. As a 67-year-old, I feel grateful for my age, considering the wicked world in which we currently live. I sincerely hope that future generations will have better safeguards against these scams with the help of God.AVGNigeriaDeal KentGod10 yearsI called a number that supposedly belongs to HP Technical Support. I wanted to inquire about the replacement ink cartridges for my printer, as I had not received them yet. Surprisingly, they informed me that my delivery address had been changed from Nigeria to Nigeria, and suggested that someone outside of the UK might have accessed my IP server. They offered to escalate the issue to a company called UKDTL for ensuring security. They claimed this process would take a couple of hours and cost approximately £160, including VAT. They requested payment through a cheque promptly. Feeling intimidated, I reluctantly agreed. However, now that I have received the bill via email, I am hesitant to pay. On Monday, I plan to contact HP directly through their website to verify whether I indeed spoke with one of their representatives. Something doesn't feel right here - the phone number seems suspicious, and I have come across online accusations of possible fraudulence associated with this company.HP Technical SupportNigeriaUKUKDTLHP10 yearsI recently received a warning on my PC from Norton360. Concerned, I decided to call what I believed was Norton support. Unfortunately, the individuals I spoke with took control of my PC and claimed that my network had been compromised. They then informed me that they would transfer me to a company called UK Infotech, showing me their website as proof. Skeptical, I insisted on speaking to Microsoft before proceeding. They provided me with a number to call, which I did. Luckily, Microsoft confirmed UK Infotech as a valid provider for their services. Curiously, I received a call back from UK Infotech using the same number they had given me for Microsoft! Thankfully, I deduced that it was a scam before agreeing to their charges of £200.
