watch out for this scam, it’s really dodgy - they ring up, acting like they’re from microsoft tech support and ask you to let them access your computer remotely. if you fall for it and let them in, there's a good chance they’ll hide something in your files that lets them get into everything, like your passwords. antivirus won’t spot it cause you technically allowed it. the only real fix is to wipe your computer and reinstall windows completely, then freeze all your bank and card accounts and change every detail quick. be prepared to waste ages sorting out the mess they leave behind.

I've just come across a site claiming my computer is infected, but don't fall for it - it's a complete fraud! They want you to ring them up, and they were saying something about a virus on my laptop. I ran a proper Microsoft security check and it turned up clean, no issues at all. It’s definitely a scam; they’re fishing for your login details. Best to steer clear!

just got this awful red screen shouting warning messages at me. first thing i did was look up the 0800 number that called. turns out it’s a massive scam. ctt, at del or something like that. ran a virus scan and found nothing. lucky it went away fast but it was a real scare, especially since my computer's brand new. cheers for the tips here, fingers crossed they catch these nasty folks soon.

Absolutely dodgy! A pop-up appeared on my screen claiming there was a virus, and it directed me to this number for so-called tech support. Definitely a con!

I attempted to set up Microsoft Office, but it didn’t work and told me to ring Microsoft on a specific number. The “technician” then claimed loads of my files were infected and insisted that my photos and home wifi were compromised. They wanted £400 to fix my computer, install Office permanently, and sort out my wifi and internet security. Don’t fall for this scam! If you're concerned about your device, it's much safer and cheaper to go to a proper professional. You’ll get a reliable service and exactly what you pay for - this was totally bogus.

I got a call from this number and honestly, it freaked me out because I thought I had to pay to unlock my computer. I only just got the laptop as a birthday gift today, and now half of the keys aren’t even working properly. I’m having to take it to a repair shop tomorrow. My advice? Just don’t pick up if this number rings you, it really made me panic.

Got a warning on my screen saying my PC was infected and would be locked if I didn’t ring a certain number. Tried turning it off but the popup just wouldn’t disappear. Then someone told me to press ctrl alt del on 09/11/16, and that actually fixed it. Cheers for the tip!

Got a call from 08000903854 and suddenly a red screen popped up with a voice saying my computer would get locked in 5 mins. My mum, who’s 71, freaked out big time. It was really worrying to see her so upset. Can't someone do something about these scammers? Why aren't the police cracking down on them? It seems like these crooks are everywhere now, always preying on older folks.

Got a call from a BT payphone that looked like one of those scam calls. Since it was free, I just left it hanging so they wouldn’t be able to end the call easily. Hope this little trick helps someone else too!

I had pretty much the same thing happen to me. The caller was trying to get me to click on a link using some weird browser, which apparently would have let them take over my computer. Naturally, I didn’t bother opening the link. Honestly, I wouldn’t advise anyone to even bother calling back that number - it's not worth the hassle. Just to be safe, I did a thorough virus scan on my laptop and thankfully found nothing.

I got a random pop-up on my PC saying my computer had a virus, but I was sure it was dodgy since I watch loads of prank scam calls online. So, I rang the number, and a lady with an Indian accent said she was from Microsoft support. Don’t fall for it, it’s totally a scam. If you ever get one of those alerts, just ignore it, or better yet, call them back and mess about to stop them scamming others. If they ask you to visit websites or download anything, don’t do it - just stall them. By the way, the number was 08000903854, so watch out!
