Phone number ☎️ 08000869834 👆 is reported as a well-known scam number primarily targeting Facebook users with fake warnings about computer viruses and hacking. Victims frequently experience frozen screens, threatening pop-ups, and automated American-accented voices urging immediate contact. I'm just 10 and this sort of thing keeps happening to me too. They said I had to call back within five minutes or my computer will stop working. I didn’t call back since it felt dodgy. I asked a mate and they told me about this site. Honestly, really grateful for this, I was really scared. IT'S A COMPLETE SCAM, DO NOT PICK UP OR CALL BACK!

Just like loads of others, my Facebook screen froze - they seemed legit but ended up charging me £49.99 to unfreeze it after I let them access my computer. Nearly had a meltdown thinking it was a rip-off, but they really had me stumped. Had to back up all my files and do a full reset to sort it out. Already flagged them to TalkTalk.

As a newcomer to the online world, I unfortunately fell victim to a scam just the other day. While browsing through Facebook, I stumbled upon a post stating that tributes were being paid to Ian McShane. I was completely unaware of any incident concerning him-because there wasn’t one! Suddenly, a window appeared, warning that my computer would be disabled if I didn’t take action or attempted to close the window without responding. My screen completely froze, leaving me helpless. In a moment of panic, I dialled the number provided, believing it to be legitimate, and ended up on a half-hour call with a lady who had a distinct foreign accent, all while she took control of my computer. She informed me that the fee to "resolve" this supposed virus would be an eye-watering 499 dollars. Thankfully, I managed to reach out to a family member on another phone, who quickly guided me on what to do next.

I unfortunately fell prey to these scammers. They were incredibly persuasive. In the end, they managed to take £400 from me for what they claimed would be a three-year coverage.

Absolute charlatans! I received a recorded call purporting to be from Microsoft, threatening to cripple my computer unless I contacted them. The message claimed it was to avert potential harm to their system, all while flashing a picture of Facebook-utterly ridiculous! I had merely clicked on a snapshot of Jim Broadbent with a caption expressing he’d be missed-had no idea there were any issues with him (there weren’t any, of course)! I was completely ensnared. The webpage even locked me in with a countdown to my tech’s doom-very well done, I must admit. I managed to escape using the task manager, then went back in to snag their phone number. They deserve a stint in the slammer!

Had a pretty similar thing happen to me. It looked proper legit - ringing tone and also a screen blocking the computer showing a number, what type of device it was, IP address and even the place the hack was supposed to be from - all pushing me to call right away. Thankfully I double-checked with my provider first and then shut down my PC and took the battery out. The worst part is how convincing it looked, almost like a real Microsoft alert. Proper scary!

While browsing on my wife's Facebook, we encountered this alarming pop-up that had an electronic voice claiming that her computer had been hacked. It urged her to ring a specific number, stating that if she attempted to turn off the device, it would transmit sensitive information like credit card details, passwords, and photos, ostensibly leaving her in quite the predicament! Rather than reacting in a panic, she let the message play as she contacted our local tech support. They advised her to power down the computer, which she followed, and upon restarting it, everything appeared normal again. Rest assured, this was nothing more than a scam! Stay calm and definitely steer clear of that number.

Blimey, it's happened again! My computer seems to be playing tricks on me; I couldn't escape from the window it was stuck on. The only way I could get it to budge was by forcefully shutting it down with the power button. Honestly, I’m fed up with this - it’s the second time in a month! I've rummaged through all the settings to locate that dodgy Microsoft page, but I can't seem to find it anywhere to get rid of it. What a palaver!

I stumbled upon something regarding Noel Edmonds and, lo and behold, a rather alarming voice message appeared, indicating that our computer had been compromised. It warned that our personal information might be at risk from potential cyber intruders. The message urged us to ring 08000869834 without delay, within a mere five minutes. When I called, a chap with an accent that sounded quite foreign picked up and claimed to be from the Microsoft support team, insisting he could guide us through resolving this mess. Feeling a bit uneasy, we decided to hang up. He had gained brief access to our computer, but luckily, we managed to shut it down quickly and restart while performing the alt, ctrl and del trick-fingers crossed, everything seems fine now!

I’ve just encountered a situation where those pesky scammers have taken to leaving messages on my screen. One particularly dodgy notification popped up on my Facebook, claiming that my account had been compromised, urging me to ring the number provided. At first glance, it seemed legitimate since it appeared over my actual feed. Intrigued, I decided to hear them out regarding the issue. The caller assured me they could resolve it, but there was a hefty annual fee of £199 attached. After grilling him for about thirty minutes, I mentioned that my local computer repair shop could sort any issues for just £40. Unbelievable, these folks!

I got a call today from some automated message saying my computer was infected and hacked, and all my info was at risk. They said I had to ring their number right away or my computer would be locked. My Facebook got stuck and I couldn’t switch to any other tabs in Firefox. A robotic voice popped up saying my computer was infected with a virus and I needed to ring this number. It happened after I tried to open something related to Ian McShane, just like I’ve seen others mention. I didn’t bother calling, just turned my computer off and on again and avoided reopening the Facebook link, logging back in fresh instead. Everything appears fine now.

This evening, my mother encountered a rather unsettling situation on her laptop that has left her unable to do anything. I'm at a bit of a loss, so I'm seeking some guidance. So, I picked up the home phone and dialled this number, and an Asian gentleman answered, claiming there was an issue with my network. Like a complete muppet, I ended up giving him my email address, believing his story. It wasn't until he started asking for cash to resolve the issue that I realised something was amiss. I quickly powered down my computer and restarted it, which seemed to get rid of the problem. It was a bit of a shock to think he managed to navigate around my system!

A message suddenly popped up on my laptop saying it was a serious alert from Microsoft. It claimed my computer was infected with a virus or spyware and that hackers could access my bank details. It told me I had only 5 minutes to ring a number before my PC would get damaged and I shouldn't switch it off! It promised someone would guide me to fix the issue if I called. It seemed so genuine, especially since it was an 0800 number!! But I rang Microsoft themselves and they confirmed IT’S A SCAM. They advised me to keep holding down the power button until the laptop turned off.

My father, who’s 78, had quite a similar encounter on Facebook. He dialed the number they provided and followed all their instructions, not realising it was a scam until they requested £199.99 along with his bank details! That said, I can’t help but fret about his phone bill - could it be racking up a premium charge?

While scrolling through Facebook, I stumbled upon a post claiming that Julie Andrews had passed away. Almost immediately, a pop-up appeared, urging me to call 0800 086 9834 because my computer supposedly had a virus. I didn't fall for it-shut off my WiFi instead and ran a thorough scan with Windows Defender, which thankfully found no issues. I encountered a rather alarming pop-up on my laptop claiming I had a virus and urging me to call the number listed above. In a moment of folly, I went ahead and called it. However, as soon as I detected the accent - it seemed to be either Indian, Asian, or possibly African - I quickly hung up. I then shut down my laptop using Ctrl + Alt + Delete and rebooted it about ten minutes later. After running a scan, it revealed no issues, and my laptop is functioning perfectly fine now. I'm just left wondering: by having made that call, is it possible they could have accessed any sensitive information from my device, like passwords? Cheers, John.

I’ve just had a rather unnerving experience - I figured it was a dodgy call, but I must say, hearing a voice blaring from my screen claiming to be from Microsoft was quite alarming. I promptly jotted down the number and switched off the laptop in a bit of a panic. A quick search led me to this site, which has eased my mind somewhat. It’s a relief to realise that they can’t actually do anything unless you’re foolish enough to ring them back. I’d definitely urge anyone who may have engaged with them to update their passwords immediately and notify their bank without delay.

I encountered a rather unsettling situation earlier while browsing Facebook. It was quite disconcerting and left me feeling a bit threatened. I found myself unable to exit the page, so I opted for the old faithful method of hitting ctrl-alt-delete, and thankfully that did the trick to shut down my computer. Subsequently, I conducted a thorough scan and, fortunately, found no issues. I did a quick search for the number that had popped up on my phone and was relieved to confirm through this site that my instincts were spot on. Cheers for the assistance!

Hello there! Just a quick heads up - steer clear of making any calls to that number. If you're on your computer, try pressing the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys simultaneously. That should let you log out and reboot. Alternatively, you can simply press and hold the power button for roughly six seconds, which will allow you to restart your machine. Stay safe!

I received a message on Facebook last evening, warning that my computer was about to be locked. Foolishly, I ended up calling the number they provided. It took me a while to realise something wasn’t quite right, especially when they insisted I visit the Microsoft store. In the end, I hung up. I quickly rang my bank, and they’ve now put a hold on my online banking and cancelled my cards, just to be safe. I’ve turned off my laptop and disconnected from the internet since then. Honestly, I thought I was more savvy than that - usually, I’m pretty good at spotting dodgy schemes. But these people were exceptionally convincing!

I've received a multitude of calls purporting to be from Microsoft's tech support. They all seem to have an Indian accent-two gents and a lady on the last occasion. Thankfully, McAfee has confirmed my system is all right. I've just powered it down for good measure. It makes me wonder if this is somehow linked to Facebook.

My computer crashed while I was trying to open a Facebook link about Ian McShane. The number they told me to ring was given there. I tried to contact Microsoft support but couldnt get through. So I looked up the number to see if it was legit and it turned out to be a scam.

I encountered a rather dodgy pop-up that was read out by a computer-generated voice, claiming that my device had been compromised by a virus and urging me to contact 08000869834 within a mere five minutes to consult with a Microsoft technician for assistance in eradicating the supposed threat. Instead, I opted for a more sensible approach: I rebooted my device, disabled my Wi-Fi, and performed a thorough security check, but thankfully found no issues at all. A quick search of the number on this site revealed it to be a scam, as I suspected.

I just got a call from this number, and they requested that I input a number. Is there any chance they could have done something dodgy or even accessed my bank details?

I got a rather dodgy call tonight and, to my dismay, I actually ended up speaking to the so-called technician. To make matters worse, I even allowed him access to my computer! It all went sour when he mentioned a £60 charge to sort things out, which is when I decided to hang up. Now I'm left fretting that they might have pilfered my information. I've run a malware scan, and thankfully, nothing alarming showed up. Do you reckon I’m in the clear? I can’t believe I was so naïve. He claimed to be calling from Michigan in the States.

This happened to me a couple times today. First was while checking out a normal item on Facebook, and the second was when I clicked on Ian Mcshane. The first number I got was 08000903831. I called it and an Indian guy answered, but after a few minutes I felt a bit off and hung up. The second time, the number showed up at the top of a Facebook login page, and I wasn’t sure if it was legit, so I dialled 08000869834, but it was just dead. I turned my phone off and on again later and realised both numbers were definitely scams.

I took a similar route and ended up on a page linked to Stephen Hawking. It now claims that my information has been collected. I've had a similar experience too! Saw a Facebook ad at 6 PM on 16th January 2017. Turned off my computer and everything was fine. However, I urge you to be cautious and not fall for such messages, no matter how alarming they may appear. The vast majority are nothing more than scams aimed at those who might not be as wary. Stay smart and don’t let them get to you!

Hello there!

I experienced something rather similar recently. I stumbled upon a link concerning Ian McShane, and soon after, I received a voice message claiming that my computer had been infected with a virus. The message urged me to ring 0800 086 9834, insisting they'd assist me in resolving the issue, but they'd demand a staggering £200 for their “help.” Naturally, I declined their offer, and then they abruptly cut off the call. I'm unsure of the next steps to take. I would truly appreciate any guidance you could provide. Cheers!

I recently encountered a rather alarming advertisement claiming "Hawkin has passed away." This caught my eye, and not long after, a spoken message prodded me to ring a number displayed on an unresponsive little screen. Just like that, my computer seemed to have been compromised, with warnings suggesting my details could be pilfered at any moment! In an attempt to verify the number, I switched to another browser, only for it to freeze as well. I couldn't locate any official info from Microsoft regarding this number. I'm now planning to run a scan with Windows 10 antivirus to see if it can unearth any pesky Trojans hiding on my device...

I found myself in a similar predicament when I stumbled upon the image of Ian McShane. It sent shivers down my spine with the alarming message it displayed, prompting me to dial the 0800 helpline. I ended up chatting with a chap named Ammer Singh who claimed to be a technician from Microsoft. He offered to remotely access my computer, but once he quoted me a hefty sum of £199 for repairs, I swiftly said no. He abruptly disconnected the call, leaving the ominous message glaring back at me. I've since checked my computer, and fortunately, everything seems to be functioning just fine now.

This just happened to me yesterday and I only called the number since it was a freephone. I was convinced to let them access my computer until they suddenly asked for 200 dollars. After that, I got in touch with a local IT bloke who put in a Malware program that removed about 60 risky files and programs. I’ve also rang my bank and BT to check everything’s alright. From now on, I’ll be more cautious about the websites I visit and won’t open any emails from strangers. I’m planning to report this misuse of a freephone 0800 number - it really ought to be shut down.

It uncovered and eliminated around 60 potentially harmful files and applications. I got in touch with my bank and BT, and thankfully, everything appears to be alright now. I just received a rather bothersome message accompanied by an irritating voice claiming my computer had been compromised, or words to that effect. I powered down my computer, restarted it, but the issue persisted. Eventually, I ended up calling the number provided. Now, I’m feeling quite anxious as I unwittingly granted them access to my system, and they rummaged around-I can only assume they may have copied sensitive information. They informed me that my warranty had expired and tried to sell me some budget option. Since funds are tight at the moment, I told them I'd prefer to have it cleaned up by a local technician instead. I encountered a rather unpleasant situation earlier on Facebook. As I was minding my own business, my cursor accidentally hovered over a dodgy link - it's a bit over-sensitive, this computer of mine. Suddenly, my screen went awry and a menacing pop-up appeared, warning of catastrophic consequences for my device unless I dialled 08000869834. Naturally, I gave them a ring, but only so I could call them out for their despicable impersonation of Microsoft. They had the audacity to say their operation goes by the name of Alpha. I must say, the alarming alerts blaring from my computer left me quite unsettled. I allowed the chap access to my machine, but then promptly declined to fork out £250. Much like others who have shared their experiences regarding this troublesome phone number, I had a rather unsettling encounter on Saturday, 10th December. I was browsing through Facebook when an alarming news article popped up, claiming that Sir Alex Ferguson had passed away. My initial reaction was disbelief, prompting me to click on the link. Almost instantly, my laptop became completely unresponsive. A message appeared, instructing me to call the number in question. Regrettably, I fell into the trap and made the call, only to find myself speaking with someone from India who was spouting all sorts of nonsense about "repairing" my device. It was then that I noticed the location they specified was nowhere near where I actually am. Alarm bells started ringing in my head, and I firmly told him to get lost. So, what did I do? I switched off my laptop, waited a moment, and upon rebooting, everything was back to normal. My advice? Steer clear of anything that seems off!

I've encountered a similar issue to what you've mentioned above. It all kicked off when a slew of unwanted tabs began popping up, pestering me to download virus protection from what appeared to be various credible firms. Along with that, there were a couple of blank tabs and one promoting a gym, if I recall correctly. While the most recent 'Microsoft' alert looks somewhat authentic, I must say the incessant pop-up notifications come across as rather pushy and dubious. The number they’ve given me to call is 0800 086 9243, which, though not identical to the one referenced here, is alarmingly close. I’ve held off making the call as I wanted to ascertain if it’s a scam beforehand. My laptop’s currently unresponsive, and I'm at a loss as to how to clear this mess.
