Its a scam, they claimed to be from my bank for some security issue. I hung up straight away cause something felt off. To be sure i rang a mate to check if call was really dropped and then contacted my bank using the number on my debit card. They told me it wasnt them calling and told me to talk to their security and fraud team.

SCAM ALERT… Never share your info and only ring numbers that you already have or that come straight from your bank's official messages. Got a text saying someone tried to access my ### bank account (won't say which but they knew it). Then a few texts later another one asking me to phone a number to verify I wanted to change my mobile number on the account (which I definitely didnt). Sneaky move, just trying to get at your money. Stay sharp and DELETE any random messages, only contact your bank on numbers you trust!

I had a rather similar experience just two days back and again today, 22nd December 2018. They pretended to be from Santander Bank and were inquiring about my sister. From the get-go, I could sense it was a scam; I told the lady, who had a Scottish brogue, to bugger off. What concerns me the most is that Santander doesn’t seem to be safeguarding their customers’ banking details and privacy very well. How on earth did they obtain our phone numbers and figure out we were account holders with Santander? I’ve decided to close my account with them... never had such issues with Lloyds or Barclays.

I just got a phone call from this number, the bloke said his name was Mohamed and claimed he was calling from Santander about one of my accounts. He wanted me to answer some security questions. I told him I’d already spoken to my bank and everything was fine with my accounts. I said if there was a real issue, they should send me something by post. They claimed that I would have received a letter the previous week regarding some purported issue with my account, yet I never saw any such correspondence. Out of curiosity, I reached out to Santander, and they informed me that there were no known problems. Additionally, I dropped by my local branch; while they acknowledged my call in their records, they confirmed that there was no reason for Santander to initiate contact with me. The individuals on the other end of the line seemed fairly convincing; two of them had noticeable Scottish accents, while the third had a distinct foreign inflection.

Got a random call from someone saying they were from Santander, asking me to do some security checks, which I said no to. This number has been ringing me a couple of times daily for nearly a month now, saying it’s Santander. This is true for pretty much every bank - their credit card services are handled by different firms. So if you’re trying to check who called, don’t phone the bank, ring the Santander Credit Card department instead.
