It's rather frustrating, but it appears that an error on Facebook has caused my computer to freeze up completely. I'm currently unable to access it, and it seems I can only get through to you by leaving this message. I'd greatly appreciate a prompt response to help resolve this issue. Thank you!

Totally a scam, they claim your PC has loads of errors and then demand £150 to fix it. After a forced restart, everything just goes back to how it was before. Had a really scary run-in with these con artists.

Just like loads of others, my mother-in-law’s Facebook got locked down. The scammers got ahold of her and she picked up the call - sounded like some bloke from America, might’ve said his name was Kevin or Sam. They managed to scam £350 out of her, and she's 86! I swear, if I ever caught that lowlife for even a minute, I don’t know what I'd do. I tried calling the number back but it just disconnects straight away. Proper awful people.

I got a weird pop-up on my screen with a voice saying my PC had a virus and I needed to call this number right away because my bank info was being stolen. It said if I didn’t call within 5 minutes, Microsoft would block my computer as it was supposedly a threat to their system. This all happened after clicking a link on Facebook. The message froze my internet and stopped me from closing it, so I had to restart my computer. Thankfully, everything seems okay now. Tried the number out of curiosity but just got a busy tone. Pretty clear this is a scam and should be flagged. Going to update my security stuff later today for sure.

After I made my report yesterday evening, today I received a message on my computer saying I hung up and that God won’t forgive me. If I get another one like this, I’m going to trace who’s sending these messages and report them.

Someone with an Indian accent called me asking for money. I hung up straight away without sharing anything. Then he rang again from another number, and I knew it was the same bloke. It all started after a warning popped up on Facebook saying my computer had a virus.

On the 1st of April 2017, my computer was reached out to, and I ended up having to shut it down entirely.

This has "scam" written all over it. Honestly, if you fall for their tricks, they’ll probably sneak some nasty malware onto your computer that’ll empty your accounts and swipe your personal info. My advice? Call them up and keep them chatting for ages to waste their time, then make sure you report them straight away.

Just had a similar thing happen to me today, came through Facebook. I guess I was a bit daft and rang the number, ended up talking to someone who sounded like they were from an Indian call centre. They were asking loads of questions and then tried to get me to let them access my computer remotely. I hung up straight away. Felt really dodgy to me. I managed to close everything by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del and opening task manager, then gave my PC a quick restart. So far, all seems alright.

I had a pretty much identical situation and ended up having to just shut down my computer because I was really suspicious about it. I didn’t even bother calling the number, it definitely seemed like a dodgy scam to me.

Just now, while checking my emails, a pop-up suddenly appeared claiming to be from "windows security" or "iexplore." It was accompanied by a voice warning that my computer had detected a dangerous virus and that my credit card details were at risk. They wanted me to ring the number shown. There was also a prompt asking for my username and password. The message threatened to disable my computer if I didn’t get in touch, saying it posed a risk to their network. I was quite doubtful about this, so I tried to close the alert, but it wouldn’t disappear. Eventually, I had to force a shutdown and restart the machine. After rebooting and opening my emails again, the message hasn’t come back. Seems like a dodgy scam to me. Does anyone have any idea what it might have been?
