Today I had a really similar experience, I accidentally let them get remote access to my PC. After that, they put a password lock on it and then started telling me I had to pay, giving me a few choices from about £297 up to £500. When I said no, they just ended the call straight away.

A pop-up appeared on my brand new laptop saying my 30-day Microsoft Office trial had run out, and it came with a free 0800 number. The caller pretended to be from Microsoft and tried to get me to cough up £199.00, but I said no thanks and didn’t pay a penny.
