I called this number to find out why I couldn’t get through, and they said I had some kind of serious infection. Weirdly, he also said I sounded really young, like 21! The dodgy part was he was about to ask for my card info, but thankfully I refused since I never give out payment details over the phone without getting a letter in the post first. I’m definitely going to be more careful if they try again, hoping they don’t. For now, I’m just going to chill and watch my favourite anime. Seriously, don’t ring them back and don’t trust anything they say!

I let them get into my computer, but I have no clue what happens now.

An unexpected window suddenly appeared on my screen, obscuring everything in sight. I wasn't even able to use Alt+Tab to switch to a different application, nor could I access the Task Manager to terminate Chrome. Nothing seemed to work! In a bit of a panic, I found myself dialling 0 800 046 5278, seeking assistance from some engineers to help me tackle this so-called virus. Thankfully, since I reside outside the US, my number didn't get recognised by the service provider. In the end, I opted to simply power down my computer and restart it, which resolved the issue perfectly.

So it was really late and even tho I was a bit iffy, I answered the phone. They got me on citrix for like 5 mins, then I told them my laptop battery was dying and needed the charger. While I was gone, they kept rambling about IP addresses and stuff. I ended up hanging up. Fingers crossed they didn't put a virus on my laptop!!!

Back on 15th March 2017, I got a warning on my laptop saying I had a virus and needed to call a certain number and speak to a technician. I ended up giving them remote access for nearly a minute, but the guy on the phone, who spoke with an Indian accent, started asking how old I was because I sounded young. That instantly made me uneasy, and I told them to quit immediately. Luckily, I managed to take back control of my computer, and I just hope they didn’t manage to grab any of my personal info.

Saw a message pop up on my PC saying it was from Microsoft. Don’t ring the number they show - it’s totally a scam!

So I was streamin Vampire Diaries online and this number popped up as a warning. I decided to ring 'em, and at first, the guy was really pushy, telling me to press Windows + R and then type in some iexplore command like mentioned by others. But just before I went ahead and clicked anything, I asked him a few questions, and suddenly he got all snotty and just hung up on me. Since I didn't actually click okay, does that mean he couldn’t get into my laptop?

It all kicked off when I saw an ad promising to speed up my computer if I downloaded their software. The thing wouldn’t close down unless I switched the whole machine off, which I did a couple of times. Next day, while I was watching something on Netflix, a message popped up on the screen saying my computer was infected and my info was being sent elsewhere. There was even a voice telling me to call 08000465278, which they claim is from Microsoft but isn’t. If you ring them, they’ll try to charge you around £200 or £300 to fix the so-called virus, just trying to scam you.

Steer clear of this number if your device becomes unresponsive and a message prompts you to get in touch. The so-called support staff, supposedly linked to Microsoft, will instruct you to hit the start button and then type ‘iexplore’ in the provided field. This action supposedly leads to a new window where they’ll ask you to enter a number, which will ultimately install the nasty JS/Redir_G virus on your machine. Don't buy into their tricks. Remain level-headed and opt for task manager instead, systematically shutting down your computer. It's wise to clean your system before they manage to upload the JS/Redir_G malware.

Steer clear of this number if your device becomes unresponsive and displays a message prompting you to call. The so-called support staff claiming to represent Microsoft are actually subcontractors. They'll instruct you to click on the Windows start button, then enter 'iexplore' into a designated field. This leads to another prompt where they'll ask you to input a specific number, which ultimately leads to the installation of a virus named JS/Redir _G. Don't heed their advice - their tactics are quite clever and they can be quite convincing. Stay composed and head to the task manager instead; proceed to shut down your computer methodically. If possible, tidy up your system before they get the chance to inflict the JS/Redir _G virus.

I got locked out of my PC and then was told to call this strange 0800 number. Thankfully, I’d already figured out what was happening, managed to get back into my computer, and just ended the call.

Someone pretending to be from Microsoft called me, said there was a problem with my computer. I naively let them control my laptop using some remote software called gotoassist. They asked me to press the Windows key with R, then type a weird address like iexplore followed by some numbers and letters. Right after that, they started digging through my personal info. It made me feel really uneasy, so I told them to cut it out. Don’t ever call the 0800 number that pops up on your screen, it’s a total scam.

I got here after seeing some ransomware ad - I let them access my PC, which was a big mistake. Things went downhill when they began demanding money and started shouting at me, so I just ended the call.

I recently noticed that a number popped up on my son's laptop, claiming that all his details were being sent off somewhere. They urged him to call them, threatening to block access to his passwords if he didn’t. I immediately ran a thorough scan with McAfee to check for any nasties, and thankfully, everything came up clean. After shutting down the laptop and rebooting it, there were no issues whatsoever. It seems to me like this is just another dodgy scam call aimed at conning people out of their cash. We decided against contacting these folks.
