I found out it’s definitely RBS. I gave them a ring using a verified number to double check.

That's a bit of a peculiar situation, isn’t it? I received a voicemail claiming that there was some fraudulent activity linked to my RBS credit card and that I should ring a particular number. Straight away, it struck me as odd-very much like those pesky scam robocalls we often hear about. Still, given that I had encountered a decline on my card during my last transaction, I thought it prudent to investigate further. I dialed the customer service number printed on my card instead of the one from the voicemail and managed to speak with an actual human being-what a relief! This chap confirmed that the automated message I’d received was indeed a routine alert they send out. While he didn’t have the specific number used in that message, he urged me to check my texts as well. Sure enough, I found messages indicating that my card had been temporarily locked, complete with transaction details that I could recognise. So, while I can't say for definite that it was not a scam (since he couldn't provide clarity on that number), it felt rather genuine considering the circumstances, even though a part of me still wonders if it was just a colossal coincidence. I did mention to the representative that they really ought to take into account how scam-like their automated calls come across and suggested they should make a concerted effort to publicise the legitimate contact details on their website. Maybe they could tweak the process to prompt customers to call the number on their cards or signpost to the texts or app, rather than rattling off a number that could easily be mistaken for a scam. So, if you happen to receive a call from a similar number, just make sure to contact your bank with a number you know is correct, while exercising an abundance of caution in case there's some trickery at play.

This number has been ringing me about five times today. I contacted my bank and they confirmed it’s not connected to RBS at all. Someone really needs to check what’s going on here quickly.

Keeps claiming it’s from RBS about fraud but I’m not so sure. Had loads of annoying calls today, really fed up. Would appreciate if someone could check into this please.

Claimed to be from RBS, but absolutely not!

So, this number rang me on my home phone with a recorded message claiming there was suspicious activity on my RBS credit card. Thing is, I haven't even touched that card in over two years, and there’s nothing showing up on my RBS app or any alerts. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the card just in case. They called again about 12 hours later but didn’t leave a voicemail. Is this legit? Honestly, I’m not sure - but if it was the bank, wouldn’t they try reaching me through other channels like my mobile, email, or the app? Seems dodgy to me.

I've received a couple of messages from this number, seemingly from my bank, RBS. I did a bit of digging with my bank, and they assured me they haven't reached out to me in any official capacity. I've gone ahead and reported it. Stay vigilant!

Looks like this really is a proper number for RBS. I got a voicemail so I rang the number listed on their site instead of the one in the message. After a bit of waiting, they confirmed it was a genuine security alert about some recent charges on my credit card.

After I’d already told the fraud team and sorted out canceling my dodgy RBS credit card, this number just wouldn’t stop calling me. Really annoying!

Got a call saying there was an attempt to open an iTunes account with my card, supposedly by RBS fraud dept. Sounded quite believable since they shared details about past purchases.
