Actually a legit call from Halifax. They mentioned the last 4 numbers of my account. I was suspicious at first, so I rang the number on the back of my card just to double-check.

I ordered something online from Halifax and got a text from this number right after, so I figured it was legit. But if you got this message and never ordered anything, you should probably look into it, just in case. Better safe than sorry, I guess.

This was a Halifax number, proper one. I had some trouble trying to buy something online and the number rang me to check if it was me making the purchase. They said to hold on 10 minutes before I could use it again.

It’s crazy how clever these scammers are - they even leave comments here trying to get you to call or text some premium number.

This number is definitely a scam.

Legit, for sure! I’d say don’t just brush off this message. I rang the number on his card and got through to the fraud department. Turns out someone tried to use his card in Manchester.

Don't ever phone a random number and share your bank info. Always use the official contact number for your bank that you trust! It's obvious they want you to ring a dodgy number so you end up handing over your details. I really hope folks don't get tricked and dial that 0845 number!

Got a message from Halifax saying there’d been a purchase on my account, asking me to reply yes or no. I’m pretty careful with these things, so I rang the bank’s official number to check, and it really was true. Some idiot had tried using my card in London, while I was here in Birmingham. Just a heads up, always best to phone the number on the back of your card to be sure!

Legit call from Halifax here. I stopped an online purchase at the 3D Secure step 'cause I tried using a card I hadn’t put online before (switched to one I had used online already). Got a text with all the exact info of the order I actually cancelled.

Received a message from this number, so I headed down to my nearest LLOYDS branch who connected me to their Fraud team (someone attempted to withdraw money from my account). According to the fraud department, the number is genuine, and LLOYDS are sorting it out. DO NOT JUST IGNORE IT, you might lose money if you do, contact your bank immediately. THIS IS NOT A SCAM, despite what some are saying.

I got a message from Lloyds bank too and I wasn't sure if it was legit so I rang them directly. They told me it was right after I'd made a payment online. If you're doubtful, just give your bank a ring. Definitely not a scam!

Received a couple of messages from them, but it’s nothing like the way my bank normally gets in touch. Plus, I’ve checked my bank statement and there’s no record of any withdrawal, so it’s obviously a scam.

DO NOT call them back! Got a message saying Lloyds detected suspicious activity on my credit card. Ridiculous because my son is only 12, doesn’t even have a credit card, and he’s not with Lloyds anyway! Total scam alert!

I've gotten two texts a couple months apart, both saying the same thing about a suspicious online transaction from Lloyds bank. The thing is, I don't even have an account with Lloyds, and this is my work mobile, not for personal stuff. Seems like a scam to me.

I called Lloyds on their 0345 300 0000 line just to be sure, and yeah, it was a legit number. The whole thing started when I tried to pay a bill, but then when I went to fill out the 'click safe' form, all my info vanished for some reason! This message was basically asking if I was aware of that payment.

I'm with Bank of Scotland and this message from Lloyds Banking Group looks legit, so don’t just brush it off. I noticed a pending charge on my online banking from missguidedcompanylimited, which I definitely didn’t authorise. I’m about to get in touch with their fraud team. Also, they left me an automated voicemail on my landline that I missed earlier. Some folks here reckon it’s a scam message or call - usually poor spelling gives that away. Maybe some people don’t realise Halifax and Bank of Scotland are under Lloyds Banking Group, but a few might just be trying to cause trouble or even scammers themselves. Best to look up your bank’s official number and ring them directly to make sure.

Just got a text from 07860035284, so I called Lloyds Bank with the phone number on the back of my card. They said it was legit and had already blocked a dodgy charge of £1173 on my card. They've cancelled my card and are sending a new one. Don’t listen to the fools calling it a scam.

This number is legit. Halifax just messaged me about some dodgy online payments for about £300. When you reply to the text, they ring you back straight away with a short code and a phone number to ring their fraud team. Really handy stuff.

This number belongs to a fraud prevention company that many banks rely on to alert customers about suspicious transactions, whether you actually made them or not. Like a lot of others, I was really uneasy about picking up, so I gave my Halifax bank a ring to check. They told me this number is legit and used for warning about possible card cloning. You’re safe to reply to the messages, but I didn’t want to take any chances and contacted my bank straight away. They connected me with their fraud team who gathered all the info, cancelled my Halifax card immediately, and sorted everything out. Seriously, thanks to Halifax, I avoided losing £350, even though the message seemed dodgy at first glance.

This is a security firm working with a lot of banks to alert customers about big transactions they might not have made. Like many others, I was really nervous about replying, so I phoned up my bank, Halifax, directly. They told me that the number above is genuinely used to warn customers about possible card cloning. While it’s safe to reply, I chose not to and contacted my bank immediately. They connected me to their fraud team who took all the necessary details about the suspicious transaction and cancelled my Halifax card right away. Big thanks to HALIFAX - if I hadn’t been warned, I’d have lost £350, even though the message looked dodgy.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from the fraud department and was told to ring my bank straight away. When I contacted Lloyds, they found it odd that the call had no name attached, but apparently that’s how the fraud team operates. Looking at other comments, it seems like this fraud squad might cover Halifax and Bank of Scotland too? Anyhow, they ended up cancelling my card and were really supportive. I was a bit rattled, but glad they’re on the ball protecting us!

What a con! Honestly, it’s as clear as day that they’re just fishing for debit card info! I shot them a cheeky “get lost” message and then promptly blocked them!

Yeah, it's legitimate, but honestly, texting seems a bit dodgy for them to reach out, since loads of folks are on the lookout for scams these days. Back in the day, they'd ring you up and ask some security questions first. I got a text earlier and ended up phoning Halifax. They told me someone had attempted to use my info this morning but luckily the payment didn't go through. My card’s now been blocked and they’ve sent me a replacement in the post.

Got a text from this number saying my Halifax debit card ending with xxxx was used for a purchase I didn’t know about, asking me to reply Yes or No if I’d approved it. I wasn’t too happy sending a reply back, so I rang the Halifax number on the back of my card instead. Turns out the message was genuine, and they had to cancel my card. Luckily, no money left my account without my permission.

So, I was ordering from JustEat for the first time, and when my Lloyds bank was verifying the payment, they asked me to provide my sort code and account number, which felt a bit off. Right after, I got a text from this number saying I’d just made a card payment on that website for the correct amount. The text asked me to reply 'yes' or 'no' to confirm if it was me… I even got a message back thanking me for confirming. Being dumb, I replied. Then I rang the bank, and they told me they hadn’t sent any message like that. Now I’m a bit anxious and will just have to keep an eye on my account for any dodgy activity. Also, Lloyds customer service wasn’t really sure if it was normal for them to ask for all those details during payment, even though it was my first time using that site. Bit unsettling, honestly.

Got a message from this number today and turns out there really is fraud going on with my Halifax card. Some folks here saying it’s a scam are probably the ones trying to rip you off - they don’t want you to do anything so they can keep using your card. I wasn’t keen on replying to the text myself, so I just rang my bank instead.
