I received an identical message from someone regarding an ad I posted on Gumtree. What strikes me as peculiar is that they haven't specified which item they are interested in purchasing. Due to this, I have refrained from providing my bank or Paypal details as I don't feel entirely comfortable about it. Do you have any insight into what kind of scam might be involved in this situation?

Subject: Your Listed Car on Gumtree Dear Seller, We have received an inquiry from Pamela regarding your car listing on Gumtree. She is interested to know if the vehicle is still available for sale. To facilitate direct communication, we kindly request that you respond to her via email at [email protected] as soon as possible. Thank you for choosing Gumtree as your platform for selling your car. Best regards, Gumtree Team

Indeed, this seems to be a fraudulent scheme, remarkably similar to the aforementioned report which involved an Army Officer. In my case, however, I fell victim to a conniving individual posing as a member of the Navy. Quite ironic, isn't it?

I have just received a message from this phone number (while I was at home all day). It said "Thank you for choosing Hoppers Soho, Anuskha. Please click the link to confirm your booking." Given that I am 50 miles away from the nearest Hoppers restaurant, I immediately sensed something suspicious.

Please send all emails exclusively to "tokyolove" as mentioned in the previous message. This message is also from Gumtree.

Warning: This seems to be a scam. I have listed my car for sale on Gumtree, and I recently received a message from an individual claiming to be situated on an oil drilling rig near New Zealand. They are requesting the lowest possible price for the car and also want to know my location. I am immediately alerted by this peculiar situation.

I also received a message from the same number:

Hey there! Just wanted to check if the item you have listed on Gumtree is still available for sale. Please can you get back to me at ([email protected]) and let me know your final asking price?

This situation is getting out of hand!

Recently posted a car advertisement on Gumtree in Australia. I received a text message asking if my 2016 VW Golf TDI R-Line is still available. The sender requested that I only contact them via email at ([email protected]). Thank you!

Subsequently, you might receive another text message stating "Hello (random name), our advisor (random name) is now available to assist you. The concierge will guide you to (random name advisor)." It is crucial that you do not reply or click on any provided links, regardless of how tempting they may seem. Your safety and security rely on avoiding these deceptive tactics.

Got a text from 07860010030 and it sounded like they were working at a restaurant or something. They said, "Hi Matoka, your table should be ready in about half an hour. Please keep your phone nearby for another message." Quite an unusual message to get from this number!

Got a text from 07860010030 saying "Hi Brian, your advisor will be with you shortly. You can check your place in the queue here" with a link attached. I’m pretty sure it’s spam since I’m not called Brian at all. Then another message came through a bit later saying "Hi Brian, your advisor Steve is ready to meet you now, concierge will guide you to Steve." Didn’t click on anything and just deleted both messages!

Got a random text from 07860010030 saying something like “hello marshall, an advisor will be with you in 9 mins. please return to the shop or text back ‘cancel’ if you want to stop. cheers, cirencester”. Didn’t ring or reply, seemed dodgy. Really glad I looked it up here first, feels like a scam or phishing attempt to me. Probably just trying to make money off responses. Deleted it straight away. Proper thankful this site is around to check these things.

I got a message for someone named Mr Richard, which is actually my first name. There was a link in it, but I didn’t click on it.

I had a similar encounter, except they were familiar with my name right after I visited the O2 shop to get help with my bill. It makes me suspect that O2's systems might have been hacked or are experiencing a technical glitch. What do you all think?

I kept getting texts meant for a Mark, with a link attached. Definitely not for me! Wonder who keeps sending these by accident.

Sent a few texts to some Paul Roll in Washington, included a link too. Then went ahead and deleted them all.

Got some texts meant for 'Dan' with a link included. Didn’t click on it though, felt a bit dodgy if you ask me.

Got three texts all for someone called Martin. Pretty sure this is some kind of scam.

I have received identical messages to those mentioned earlier. They say, "Thank you, Mr. Bewick. Our advisor will assist you shortly. Check your place in the queue at this link: https://goo.gl/JDYW84." Another message states, "Hello, Mr. Bewick. Our advisor Jake is now available to see you. The concierge will guide you to Jake." Clicking on the link leads to a webpage that expresses gratitude for using O2 and displays a Qiudini address, which is an application used for managing in-store queues. It seems that Mr. Berwick may be unaware that it is his turn in the queue.

Today, I received two text messages from an unknown number, both referring to a person named Lenny, who is not me. The messages indicated that a person named Alex was eagerly waiting for me. However, I decided to delete the texts as I suspected them to be a scam.

I received three messages for Ricky (not my name), informing me that I was in a queue and providing a link to track my progress. After that, I received two more texts stating that I was next in line. Another text informed me that a concierge named Lynn was ready to assist me. However, I decided to delete all the messages and I certainly wouldn't click on any provided link.

Apologies, but this message is not intended for me. I am a female and it appears to be addressed to someone named Jim. Additionally, there was an attachment associated with it that I have already deleted.
