I did reply yes but felt really uneasy about it. So on 17/10/2024, I checked my banking app and immediately froze my card just in case. My advice? Don’t bother replying, just block and move on.

someone called saying they were from the tv licence lot but they werent legit. dont pick up if you get a call like that. they just want your bank info. my bank spotted it was dodgy and stopped some money trying to be taken from my account. it was clearly a scam.

this has to be the tv licence people, i normally pay mine every two weeks using my card at the local paypoint. if i miss the day to pay they just send me a message, no pressure to pay extra or anything. seems like a legit number, so no need to freak out thinking it’s a scam.

They keep sending me texts, now claiming I owe £14 on my credit card for missing a TV licence payment. I've already spoken with TV Licensing and they’re completely unaware of these messages. I even told them I’m covered until August 2018 and turned 75 in December 2017. They sorted out a refund for me, but then I got another message asking for £14 and my card info like I hadn’t paid. It's been about five months now and they keep sending me texts asking me to pay £7 using my card because I supposedly missed my TV licence fee. But my yearly licence is valid until August 18th. Is there any way to make them stop bothering me and trying to get my card info?

Without a doubt, a total scam. Got a text telling me to cough up £5.50 with my card because I supposedly forgot my TV licence payment. I shot back with a quick “nice try, already paid.” Not long after, they messaged again saying they couldn’t process my payment and needed my permission to sort it out. The funny thing is, I settled my TV licence at the post office way back in August last year!
