I returned home this evening to discover a rather alarming message on my answering machine. A woman's voice informed me that Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs is supposedly initiating legal action against me, directing me to press 1 to speak with a case officer. I must admit, this left me feeling quite flustered and taken aback - I’m only 33 and haven’t engaged in any activities warranting such serious allegations!

I received a rather alarming voicemail claiming to be from HMRC, stating that they were initiating a report against me. When I tried to return the call, it repeatedly instructed me to press 1, but no one ever picked up. I've gone ahead and informed the police about the situation, and I intend to contact Action Fraud in the morning for further assistance. What a palaver!

I received a message on my voicemail that was clearly generated by a robotic female voice. Unfortunately, the beginning of the message didn’t come through, but I caught a chilling line about "consulting your case officer regarding the claim made against you." Quite unsettling, to say the least. However, it’s somewhat reassuring to learn that I’m not alone in this. It seems this is happening to quite a few people.

I recently received a call from this number claiming to be the HMRC. The peculiar thing is that I had only reached out to HMRC earlier today and was somewhat anticipating a return call. Feeling quite anxious, I decided to ring them back. Now I'm left wondering what might unfold next.

Like many others have mentioned, I received a call leading to a pre-recorded message from a woman claiming that the HMRC had filed a case against me. She instructed me to hit '1' to speak with a case officer. To be honest, I found it quite improbable that the HMRC would reach out to individuals via mobile, so I decided to hang up straightaway.

Received a call roughly an hour ago, purporting to be from HMRC. I can assure you, they would never reach out to individuals via call, especially on a mobile device. Without giving her the opportunity to request any personal details, I swiftly ended the call.

Just had a rather dodgy phone call claiming to be from HMRC, can you believe it? A woman introduced herself as "Officer" what's-her-name and said there was going to be legal action initiated against us. She had a distinctly Indian accent. Thankfully it was only aimed at my elderly mum, but I answered it first. For a split second, I nearly bought her story until it hit me that proper HMRC correspondence would always come in the post. A quick check on the number revealed it was from a mobile phone. How brazen!

Just about a quarter of an hour ago, my mother, who is quite advanced in years, got one of these dodgy phone calls. Thankfully, she's quite savvy when it comes to these types of scams, and she dealt with it quite well by reaching out to me. I've seen other websites mentioning similar incidents too.

It’s definitely a scam - whatever you do, don’t ring them back, as it could end up costing a small fortune!

Fingers crossed they manage to nab these fraudsters soon.

Received a call from the number mentioned, with the person claiming to represent HMRC and stating they were issuing a writ. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name, but she certainly sounded British. I decided against returning the call.

I recently had a rather alarming call from a woman’s voice on the line, instructing me to press one to speak with someone from HMRC regarding an alleged case against me. It seemed quite dubious, and I’d urge everyone to stay vigilant. It’s certainly not a pleasant situation to be in!

You might want to give 0447537130220 a go. I received a couple of calls in quick succession from 07537130220, but they didn’t appear on my caller ID. In fact, Truecaller managed to block the third call before I even had a chance to accept it.

My mum got a call from this number as well and, without realising, ended up sharing the information they wanted! It's crucial to stay alert and under no circumstances should you disclose any personal details to them.

It appears that older individuals are being specifically targeted in this scenario. Could it possibly be a mere chance that the extensive Equifax data breach, as highlighted in the Daily Telegraph, compromised both date of birth and phone numbers?
It strikes me that the fear instilled in these unfortunate victims might elevate the level of danger posed by this data breach to something far graver than the commonplace scam.

The caller asserted they were from HMRC, but let’s be honest; a reputable organisation like that would never reach out using a mobile phone number. Quite dodgy if you ask me!
