At 1:14 pm on 30th of May, 2018, I received a call from the number mentioned above. The caller identified themselves as from Telstra and had an Indian accent. They claimed to be regarding my internet connection. Clearly, this was an attempt to scam me. Today, I received a phone call whereby the caller claimed to be from Telstra Bigpond Technical Centre. Curiously, when I inquired about their location, they immediately responded with a rather alarming statement regarding the imminent disconnection of my internet. Sensing something amiss, I requested a reference number and asked for their name. Much to my surprise, they abruptly terminated the call without providing any further information.

After a brief pause, a woman with an Indian or Pakistani accent spoke claiming to be from Telstra Technical. When I expressed disbelief and called out this as nonsense, she promptly ended the call. It seems that these scammers are once again targeting individuals. Please be cautious and remain alert.

Yesterday, I was contacted by a lady claiming to be from Telstra. She mentioned that my Internet would be suspended for 30 days due to the detection of illegal malware on my devices. However, this turned out to be a complete lie. I interrogated her about specific details such as which computer and IP addresses were targeted, since we have both business and personal ones. Additionally, she couldn't even provide our address or our Telstra account number. In the end, she abruptly terminated the call. Please be cautious of this dishonest scheme. The scammers typically ask you to login and input information on your computer, which actually installs the virus. They will then demand payment to remove the virus.
