I'm from the Netherlands and just got a message from this UK number in Dutch saying my bank account has expired. The text had a dodgy link I didn't dare to open. Seems like this number is used to scam people overseas using various languages.

Got two dodgy texts off this number: first one pretended to be PayPal, saying ‘Your OTP Code - 382901 - was needed to process a payment of £175.43 to MotorsUkLTD, if this wasnt u, click ppusers[###] to stop it’. Then another said I had a message from HMRC with some weird code [#]hrimr[###]. Total scam, watch out!

Got a text from +459910022 on 26/2/2020 saying a payment didn’t go through, said it was from Three. Then, today, the same number messaged me again but this time it was a “PayPal” OTP code for £179. Looks like two totally different scams but the same phone number.

Got this text saying it was from "FromPayPaI" with an OTP: 357661 for a payment of 79.99 GBP to LeatherCO. It said if I didn’t do it, to click a link to cancel. The link opened a dodgy site that looked almost exactly like the PayPal login page, but wasn't secure. Of course, I didn’t put any info in. Proper scam, really risky stuff.

Received a dodgy text pretending to be from PayPal saying my OTP code for £169.99 to HashtagLTD is 810357. It told me if I didn’t approve the payment to tap HashtagLTD and cancel, but the link just took me to a fake PayPal login page. Definitely didn’t do this transaction. Total scam!

It's really crucial to get this scam reported to the authorities. Just google 'action fraud', find the site ending in 'police.uk' and head to the section for reporting crimes. Fill out the form for phishing attempts - you don't even need to sign up. Also, don't forget to report it to HMRC through the link that’s shown near the hotspot map on the same site.

Received a message from this number claiming to be from the government about an income tax refund. It had a government logo and everything, asked me to complete some details. But then they wanted my bank info, even my security code and PIN! Nearly fell for it but luckily I double-checked before handing over anything. Definitely a scam message. I ended up talking to three different customer service folks, and they all agreed it’s a phishing attempt. I also reported it by texting 7726, which is 3’s number for reporting scams. The auto reply said they’ll do their best to block the number.

Just a heads up, I ended up getting scammed recently. I got a new contract with Three and they said my bill was late, so I trusted it and paid through the link they sent. Later, my bank messaged me asking if I'd made some payments I definitely hadn’t - mostly for PlayStation games or something. I’m quite old and don’t really get on with PlayStations at all! I felt really upset and anxious about it. The whole thing seems really believable, they even ask for stuff like your mum’s maiden name. Don’t fall for it like I did, it’s a proper trick!
