Had a similar experience, I did. Received a call purportedly from the ATO. They claimed that there was an arrest warrant out for me regarding tax evasion and fraud. Demanded immediate payment of outstanding taxes or else they would arrest and detain me for 72 hours. Quite peculiar, they somehow had knowledge about the exact amount of my tax debt!
