I called the number back and got a recorded message saying it was from Client Advantage Group. From what I can tell, there's a real company by that name in the States, but they deal with printers, copiers and document services - not the sort of thing that’d involve calling people in Australia out of the blue. The people behind this Melbourne number must be something else entirely. Whatever they’re peddling, I’m not interested in finding out.

Yeah, pretty much the same thing happened to me. The bloke called me by name and wanted my email, but when I asked what firm he was with, I couldn’t catch what he said - only heard something like “group” at the end. Then when I asked where he got my number from, it was just as unclear. Told him to take my number off their list, though I’m not too hopeful it'll actually happen.
