I dunno who exactly called me but they sounded foreign and were really threatening and abusive, honestly makes me want to report it to the police. I was at work and everyone, including my boss and colleagues, heard them saying I need to pay £2000 or I’d be sent to prison for 10 years. It’s just shocking. How on earth did they get my address and postcode? They could easily frighten an elderly or disabled person into handing over their bank info. Someone seriously needs to take action on this mess, it’s appalling in today’s world.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC and they were threatening me, saying I'd be arrested if I didn't press 1. I'm disabled and it really shook me up.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC. When I asked if they were really who they said, and said I'd just phone HMRC directly to check, the guy suddenly told me I'd be arrested and sentenced to five years in jail if I even said the word scam or hung up. Quite dodgy!

They try to scare you into sending money, threatening you with losing your home, car or anything valuable. It’s really worrying because they play on fear. What a horrible scam this is, totally preying on folks who rely on phone calls instead of emails for their business. A mate of mine had her husband, who has a fragile heart, rushed into hospital because of the stress it caused him. They ring up pretending to be from HMRC, threatening with bailiffs or saying someone’s on their way to the house. It’s all fake and heartless!
