These dodgy scammers are impossible to block - they’ve gone through my numbers like crazy, called me three times already! I just hang on the line chatting to waste their time, hoping it stops them from targeting others who might actually fall for their tricks.

Got a call claiming to be from HMRC about some unpaid taxes, saying I either pay up or my payments go up. I told them I hadn’t got any letter and this was news to me. The guy started rattling off some threats about getting Paynes or something. I freaked out for a sec and he asked for my bank balance. I tried to bluff by googling the number but since the call came from the same one, without thinking I told him to ring me back later since my phone credit was low. When I looked up the number afterwards, it turned out to be a scam that’s been reported here.

Got a call sayin it was from HMRC about some unpaid tax and I gotta pay up or the payment would get bigger. I asked how come I never got a letter before, this was news to me. They started ramblin some scary stuff about takin action but I was already stressed out. Then they wanted my bank details. I pretended to check by sayin I’d call back 'cos phone credit was low. Later I looked up the number online and it turned out to be a scam. So dodgy!

My wife got a call that really stressed her out, but luckily I heard what the person was saying and stepped in. It was clear to me right away it was a scam. They kept going on about some “old tax returns that were misfiled” and trying to scare her.

I got one of those HMRC scam calls - the bloke on the phone said I had to send £1000 to a ClearBank Ltd account or they’d freeze my bank accounts, take my car and passport, and even arrest me. He called himself Officer Shaun Fradley. I told him I'd just go to the bank because I don’t do online or over-the-phone banking. When he rang back to check if I’d made the transfer, I said the bank wouldn’t let me send any money. Now I’m just waiting for the “cops” to come for me, haha. Just to be clear, I didn’t send them a penny. Don’t fall for this rubbish scam!

They called me claiming to be from the tax office, saying I'd committed tax fraud and was about to be arrested. They told me my passport, bank cards, and all my belongings had been frozen, and that the police were on their way to my house! It was really upsetting and caused me a lot of stress.

Some people called me saying they were from HMRC and told me I owed £4,000. I tried to make a smaller payment of around £998 just to see if it was legit but luckily my husband stopped me from paying any more after that. Sadly, that £998 disappeared from my bank account, no idea where it went!

Got a call supposedly from HMRC, and the person told me I had two choices: pay up immediately or face court. After I phoned them back, they rang my landline to follow up, saying my bank accounts would be frozen and only money to family and close mates would go through. They pushed me to pay then and said they'd arrange a video meeting with HMRC and also suggested I get in touch with my accountant. Seems pretty dodgy to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC about owing £1,890 in tax. They told me to log into a website to sort it out, but I checked directly on my official HMRC account and nothing showed up. Definitely a scam, don’t fall for it!

I almost fell for this one; got a robo-call from the US saying my solicitor needed to ring HMRC. Rang back, was told I had an £18,000 debt from a court case but could clear it for £5,000 if I paid up quick. Lucky I looked into it first - definitely a con. Glad I didn’t send any money!

Got a call from a man with an Asian accent on 03453003943 claiming to be from HMRC, saying I hadn’t settled my taxes for two years. I told him that couldn’t be right as I’m on benefits. Apparently, they tried to post me a letter but it was returned to sender. I explained that if you’re on benefits, you don’t pay tax, but he kept insisting I was wrong. Told him I actually understand tax stuff and then he just hung up. Beware, he seemed to know my name which was a bit creepy.

These scammers are shameless, preying on those who’re vulnerable with that outdated HMRC scam. You mustn’t just brush it off. Always report scam calls to action fraud like they advise - it’s really the only way to put a stop to them.

This is actually a real number. I looked it up on Google along with 'tax credit' to check. It just shows that fighting back by ringing these scammers straight away and giving them a hard time does make a difference. Otherwise, they wouldn't bother spending so much time on here trying to trick us.

This is a classic HMRC scam that’s still catching people out and stealing their savings. Make sure you report every scam call at 'Action Fraud'. Don’t just ignore it and then complain no one’s doing anything about it. The police need to have a record of all these calls so they can see how bad the problem really is. Never ring back - they might put you through to a premium line without telling you, then you're stuck with a huge phone bill. It’s a win for scammers every time. Keep reporting these numbers on this site so others don’t fall for the same trick.

I received a call from this number around 10:23. The person on the other end claimed to be associated with tax credits. I made sure not to divulge any personal details, as all they seemed to possess was my phone number. The caller requested my national insurance number, but I'm not convinced they're legitimate.

Today, I received a rather alarming call from this number, asserting that I owed a whopping £4,900 due to some alleged tax fraud. They even went as far as providing me with a bank account number and sort code to transfer the funds to. I must say, I was nearly tempted to go through with it! Fortunately, I refrained from making any payment. I've retained all the details they provided, and it turns out it's connected to APS Bank, which seems to be situated halfway across the globe!

Somebody rang me pretending to be Brian from the tax office, accusing me of owing them £3,000 that I supposedly stole. He told me I had just one hour to pay up or else the cops would be knocking on my door within two hours. He also said there was an arrest warrant for me, and that they'd take my house, car, passport, and driving licence. Honestly, don’t fall for this trick - these scammers are phoning loads of people on different numbers.

BE WARNED, DON'T ANSWER THIS NUMBER! I just had a call from someone named Ronnie Cooper, who spoke with a really thick Indian accent. He told me I supposedly owed more than £4,000 for some made-up income tax fraud and that I’d be arrested within two hours. He also said I'd get a court summons where fees would pile up to over £24,000! On top of that, he claimed all my bank accounts, passports, and other belongings would be frozen!
