Got calls from people pretending to be from HMRC, same as the other scams going about.

I received a rather alarming automated message claiming there was a warrant out for my arrest-could hardly make out the details, the tape must be on its last legs! Without a doubt, it's a scam; I've encountered one of these dodgy calls before. I decided to give the tax office a ring, and they confirmed that they send out written correspondence, not threatening voicemails or emails. I even shared the voicemail with HMRC, and they noted it for their records as well as mine. It’s quite distressing, to say the least!

I got a call from what they said was HMRC, telling me I had 45 minutes before they would arrest me for supposedly owing taxes. Turned out it was from some call centre in India. Same old scam really.

Beware of this con! I received a call where they instructed me to press 1 or face the issuance of a warrant. They were pretending to be customs officers, making wild accusations of fraud involving H&M's revenues. The voice had a distinctly Indian accent. It's all a ploy to extract money from you within the hour. Definitely a scam, so stay vigilant!

I received a rather alarming call warning me that I might face arrest for tax evasion unless I pressed 1 immediately. Naturally, I did and asked the lady on the line to provide some evidence of her identity. She became quite aggressive, insisting that I would be taken in and that she had no obligation to verify anything. Then, without any further ado, she hung up on me. It was quite a fright, but thankfully, I had my suspicions that it was nothing more than a scam.

I've received seven calls from this number today, but I couldn't pick up as I was at the hospital. Since it was an unfamiliar number, I opted not to return the call. I've now gone ahead and blocked it. Cheers for the information regarding this number!

Beware of unscrupulous scammers posing as HMRC representatives, spinning a tall tale about an arrest warrant issued against you for alleged tax evasion. They might leave a distressing voicemail laden with threats of "legal repercussions." You can absolutely disregard this nonsense; it’s entirely fabricated. Do not, under any circumstances, return their call or engage with this gang of criminals hailing from India. Their modus operandi involves preying on the vulnerable to siphon off hefty amounts of cash. Additionally, be mindful that pressing 1 or attempting to return their call could lead to steep international charges on your phone bill. Safeguard yourself by reporting any such communications via email to [email protected] or through the Action Fraud website at actionfraud.police.uk/report-phishing.
