This is a Three Mobile number, not some kind of scam. They first rang me from 0800 0338015, but the call got cut off. Then this number called me back right away. So yeah, it’s definitely Three Mobile, not a scam.

Got a call from Three Mobile’s Accounts Collection team. I’d just ended my contract and, daft as I was, stopped my Direct Debit before the last payment went through. So, this number kept ringing to sort out the final bill. I checked with Three’s Support (0333 338 1001) and they confirmed the call was legit, they even took the payment right then and there. It’s easy to see why it might sound dodgy - the wording they use is a bit off and the thick Indian accents don’t help - but it really is a proper call!

If you’re with 3, probably best to have a quick chat with them to see what’s going on. If you don’t have anything to do with 3, make sure to report it through the police’s action fraud website. The main rule to keep safe in this world of phone scams is don’t ever share any personal details with cold callers. Don’t even confirm your name or say ‘yes’ or ‘I agree’. Got calls from some Indian guy claiming to be from '3', looking for a John Cox, but I’ve no idea who that is. At first, I politely told them they must have the wrong number. Yet for the last four months, they ring me up to three times a day asking for this John bloke. I’ve tried blocking the number and even reported it to nuisance call websites, but the calls keep coming. Honestly, I’d suggest getting caller ID because it’s the simplest way to just ignore these annoying calls.
