I received a call from this number on the 28th of September at 9:15 in the morning. When I picked up, there was utter silence on the other end. Out of the blue, the representative started talking about energy prices and I casually mentioned that I'm with EDF. Then, lo and behold, I received a call from this mysterious number. They didn’t seem to know whether I was a Miss or a Mrs and outright questioned if my first name was actually my last name! Claiming to be from EDF, they didn’t have a clue about my account details. What’s more, they rang my Sky landline at half eight in the evening, which I hardly ever use or even recognise. The caller persisted in asking for my bank information, which felt quite off. Very odd indeed!

I picked up the phone, but it was just silence on the line. Seems like it might be one of those bothersome calls.

Some bloke rang me claiming to be from EDF, talking about a unpaid bill. Thing is, I don’t even use EDF. I kept asking who they were actually after, but he just stuck to his script and kept saying "I’m calling about an outstanding balance". After me asking nearly ten times for the name of the person he was trying to reach, he suddenly said his system wasn't working and just ended the call.

It's EDF Energy, which is backed by the French government, following up on a missed payment. The number's legit, but I’ve never had an account with them, so I've decided to block it.
