Got calls from this number loads of times between about 2 in the afternoon and half past seven in the evening. It seems to be from EDF customer service - the number is "0333 200 5112". When I called back, there was a recorded message from EDF. If this is some kind of scam, then it looks like they’ve somehow got hold of customer info to make these follow-up calls to people like me. I’ve heard EDF might’ve had a data leak too, which wouldn’t surprise me given how useless they are.

On 28th September at about quarter past nine in the morning, I got a call from this number. When I picked up, there was nothing but silence. I said “hello” a few times but still no response. I waited a bit longer and tried saying “hello” again a couple of times before ending the call. Then I checked 1471 and later found this site. Lots of people reckon it’s EDF calling. I’m a customer with them too, but if that’s true, why don’t they answer when you reply? Feels like it might be a scam, or maybe they get some sort of bonus just for making calls that get picked up? Whatever it is, EDF really ought to check how they handle customers - loads of folks seem annoyed about it. Nowadays, hardly anyone’s going to hand over bank details to a cold caller. Personally, I’d never share any personal info or answer questions if I wasn’t expecting the call. They say it’s for your safety to prove who you are, but they’re the ones who rang you in the first place. This has never happened to me before.

I've been paying by Direct Debit for over a decade, but this woman insisted on switching my payment to Direct Debit, which made no sense. That immediately felt dodgy. Got a call from a woman with an American accent saying she was from EDF and wanted me to change to direct debit to save money.
