I got a call from someone saying they were from my bank but couldn’t even tell me which bank it was. They kept talking about charges from businesses I’ve never dealt with. Pretty fishy if you ask me.

I'm a bit unsure about this one. They wanted my national insurance number, which seemed strange to me. I refused, and then they told me to ring them back on a "trusted" number so I could be sure it was legit. But honestly, why wouldn't they just give me that trusted number from the start? Feels a bit fishy to me.

After seeing this, I rang the bank back and it’s definitely a cooperative bank.

I got a recorded message from a number I think was a scam. Then, I got a text from 07897 036488 saying they were from the bank, so I reckon they're connected. Stay away from these numbers and watch out, folks.

Just to add to what I said before, I found out that this number actually belongs to Co-Op Bank’s anti-fraud team. They were checking out a strange charge on my Visa card. Honestly, it feels pretty risky for any bank to have customers ring a number that isn’t widely shared and then expect them to provide card details, PIN and security codes - a scammer could easily pretend to be them. I’d always suggest calling the number on your card, your statement, or the official site before giving any info.

Got a call on my mobile supposedly from the Coop Bank's Fraud Team. They actually used my name and asked me to press any number to keep going. Felt fishy straight away so I hung up right away. Planning to ring the bank back on my home phone to check if the call was legit or just a scam.

I had a few missed calls from this number, but only one voicemail that sounded automated and said it was the Co-Op bank. Then I got a text saying it was from them about some fraud, but I don’t even have an account with Co-Op. The message included a name that definitely wasn’t mine. Didn’t take any chances and blocked the number straight away.

Whenever a payment gets declined I usually get a text about it, but this number that called me seemed dodgy so I just ignored it. I reckon Co-op should pick just one way to let people know when payments don’t go through to avoid all the hassle and confusion.

I got a call from this number after my co-op card got declined. I didn’t pick up and decided to ring my bank instead. They told me it really was the fraud team trying to check if it was actually me making the purchase. Pretty relieved it wasn’t a scam after all!

Got loads of calls over the weekend from someone claiming to be the Co-Op, saying they needed to check some "suspicious" activity. Thing is, they kept ringing an accounting firm, and not just any part of it, the forensic accounting team specifically. Definitely feels like a scam to me.

I can confirm this number is genuine. I got a voicemail from the fraud department at Cooperative Bank warning me about some suspicious transactions. At first, I was hesitant to ring them back, but after looking up this site, I thought it best to make contact. They cancelled my debit card straight away and sent me out a replacement. Apparently, the scammer tested the card with tiny payments of just £0.01 to check if it would go through, which I reckon is what tipped off the Coop's fraud team.

I've received calls on both my mobile and home phone from someone purporting to be from the fraud department of Co-op Bank. I did get a real call from Co-op Bank but since fraudsters can spoof any number nowadays, it’s best never to share sensitive details on incoming calls. It’s safer to hang up and ring your bank using a number you know is genuine. When I rang them back on a different line, I was put on hold but eventually told to ring again later as no operators were free. When I called again, they informed me that there had been several attempts to charge my card, but luckily the bank stopped them all. Glad their fraud protection caught it this time!

Definitely not a spam call. I received a legitimate ring from the fraud department of my bank. I chose not to pick up at the time, but afterwards I decided to look up the Co-op’s fraud hotline (which is 159) and reached out myself. If you happen to get a call from this number, my advice would be to hang up promptly and then do a bit of digging to find the correct contact for your bank's suspicious transactions team. I always err on the side of caution and remain a tad suspicious in these scenarios.
