Got a proper call from the Co-op the other day. They rang my landline twice. The first time I missed it coz I’d just stepped out after using my card. Then they called back to play a message from the Co-operative bank, asking if I’d used my card and telling me to ring back to confirm the purchase.

I wasn't sure at first, so I rang the number on the rear of my card just to check. Turns out, the Co-op had stopped a charge for over £200 from a firm I had no clue about. The fraud team told me that the number would only ask me to confirm with a simple yes or no. Saying YES means I acknowledge the purchase and it’ll be allowed. Saying NO means I don’t know the payment, it gets blocked, and my card is frozen to stop any dodgy stuff happening.
