Got a call about renewing my washing machine warranty, which they said had run out. Told them I don’t have a washing machine (even though I actually do). They then asked how I clean my clothes, to which I just said I don’t bother washing them, cheerio! Switched off and blocked the number straight away.

They called more than usual, like over 3 or 4 times, so I finally picked up... after a long silence, a well-spoken bloke said, “Hello, I’m Mike from Housing Repairs.” I asked, “Why are you ringing me?” He replied, “It’s about an issue, maybe a leak, crack, or damp?” I told him, “I don’t have any problems and you’re not part of Housing Repairs…” Mike then went quiet, and suddenly a recorded message thanked me for my time lol.

Had a call from a woman called Sarah, sounded like a robot, asking about damp problems in the social housing flat I supposedly live in (which I don’t!). She came across quite nice and believable, even asked how I was before going over the same questions about housing issues again and again in different ways when I didn’t give a straight answer. Seriously, don’t reply to these calls as the scammers might use your recorded voice with voice recognition tech all over the place.

However, it soon became apparent that it was a bot, as the answers started sounding quite similar after I asked my questions a few times. They seemed particularly interested in the conditions of my social housing residence.

I've had an automated female voice inquire about moisture issues in the public housing residence where I definitely do NOT reside. I’d kindly advise against replying with a simple “yes” or “no,” as scammers could exploit those responses if you’ve got voice recognition features activated. Stay savvy out there!

I received a call from someone who mentioned they were inquiring about 'my issue'. When I probed further and asked her to specify the problem, she went on to ask if I was dealing with any dampness or cracks in my property. I told her that I had neither, and without hesitation, she simply hung up. How peculiar!

The caller had a British accent and claimed it was about issues at my home that I supposedly reported to my housing association. But I don’t have any housing association. He then asked me to explain the problems, but I didn’t feel comfortable sharing anything. Maybe it’s nothing dodgy, as I am currently sorting a water leak through my home insurance, but if this call was about that, he ought to have been aware already.
