I honestly couldn't contain my amusement at the content of that call! I pressed '1' out of sheer curiosity, only to be bombarded with questions like my name and before I knew it, they had my address! They wanted me to verify that it was accurate and then proceeded to rattle off other details they'd seemingly gathered. Got a call on my phone while I was online, so I looked up the number here. Honestly, these numbers should be checked properly before being issued by the provider. I've blocked it on my phone now, but I reckon they'll try to get through using some other number soon. From now on, I’m only picking up calls if I actually recognise the caller.

I received an alarming voicemail today from a rather aggressive male voice claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs. The message was quite outrageous, stating that a warrant was out for my arrest and insisting that I press "1" immediately to avoid incarceration. Naturally, I ended the call right away! Honestly, it’s baffling how some people think they can get away with such tactics. Someone pretending to be from HMRC has been ringing my home phone quite a bit, so Sky blocked the number. Now they’ve called my mobile four times! They kept saying I’d get arrested if I didn’t call back by pressing 1. These scammers are really scary and it’s the vulnerable folks I worry about most, who might panic and lose loads of money. I got a call and pressed 1, gave them my name and address to confirm who I was. Then the line just dropped. I read in the Daily Mail that there’s a big scam going on with HMRC calls from call centres in the Indian subcontinent. You should really get in touch with your local MPs or send polite emails to the embassies involved, maybe then the authorities will step in and shut these places down. Also, be careful using public Wi-Fi, like the stuff in Morrisons or anywhere else - some apps can hack into your connection and if your device catches a virus, it could mess things up badly.
