Total scam! They want your cash, but no way I’m giving in. Saw a few comments here before mine saying the same. Maybe I’ll finally do sumthin to help shut this scam down, like others suggested. They’re probably raking in loads from poor folks, mostly old people who might not be fully there mentally. We could all end up like that, so it’s important to try and put an end to these cheats.

I usually just don’t answer, figured it’s probably someone trying to mess around.

Just a heads-up for everyone: HMRC never makes calls; all their correspondence is done via written communication. This number, 03003002300, is undoubtedly a scammer trying to pull a fast one. Stay vigilant and don't let them trick you!

At first, it was quite baffling and a bit terrifying, to be honest. The caller didn’t really clarify what the matter was-only mentioned the bit about the criminal court and getting pinched by the police. Then, she started spinning tales about having neglected to pay her immigration dues. Absolutely horrid individuals, I must say. She introduced herself as Amber and had a distinct Indian accent. The number was 0300 300 2300.

I received a recorded voicemail purportedly from 'HMRC' which seemed rather nonsensical, considering that I only acquired this number yesterday from a vending machine at Heathrow. The caller ID was 03003002300. Quite baffling, really!

Got a call from this lot a minute ago. I know I’m not involved in any fraud but I still pressed one just to hear what they’d say. A woman with an Indian accent said she was trying to help me but needed me to go through security first. I told her no way and asked what details she had on me. She got my name, a bit wrong but close enough, plus my address and obviously my phone number. I asked her to give me her full name, a direct line and a reference number so I could check with HMRC. Weirdly, she just hung up on me after that.

Got a missed call from this number today. Looks like the usual dodgy HMRC scam. Nearly 5,000 views on this number now. I guess loads of people who get these calls won’t bother checking here though. So how many times is this scam being run? How many folks are getting tricked or annoyed? Like I said a few hours ago, if everyone who gets these calls wrote to their MP and asked proper questions, maybe something would finally be done. Could give our MPs a bit of real work for once ;-(

Got a call from this number today, and they said it was the Inland Revenue saying my account was involved in some sort of fraud. Then I was passed on to a guy with an Asian accent, I think he said his name was Edmund? He asked for my name and what job I did. When I told him I’m retired and haven’t paid tax for over 20 years, he said he needed to check again and then just hung up. I already suspected it was a scam, now I’m totally sure.

Heads up, loads of dodgy calls pretending to be HMRC are going around sayin stuff like "theres a warrant out for you," or "ur in trouble for fraud!" and then they start begging for cash immediately! They’re clever enough to fake it so it looks like it’s from the real HMRC number. Don’t give them any money. If you wanna be sure, ring HMRC back from a different phone.

Classic scam call. Ive blocked the number but after going through some of the earlier comments, I’m gonna do something about these idiots. Reported it to the police through action fraud. In the past month, I got a phone call and an email from these fraudsters. The call was automated and told me to 'press 1' to speak with someone about supposedly owing £483 in tax, threatening an arrest warrant if I didn’t comply straight away. The email claimed I was owed a tax refund of £475 and to get it, I needed to open a 'Gateway Account'. Since I haven’t been employed for over three years and I’m quite cautious with my money, I spotted the scam straight away. But I can see how these tricks can fool people at first, as they come across as very believable when you first get them.

Anyone who saw a dodgy fraud pop up really needs to sort out some good security software sharpish and make sure their computer updates are all done regularly. You can block these annoying pop ups. The only folks I’ve given my landline and mobile to in the past year is when I applied for a loan through Nationwide Building Society. I didn’t receive a call, but a notification suddenly popped up at the bottom right corner of my screen. It read: "ALERT: 0300 300 2300. I’m currently under fraud investigation. HMRC!" There was a who-called logo in the bottom left corner and text saying “via who-called[###][###]” along the bottom, plus a settings icon bottom right and a close “X” top right. I didn’t click on it and it disappeared on its own while I was searching online (found nothing about it). Not sure what to make of this? Is it a legit alert from who-called or some new kind of scam? Received a couple of missed calls from the number 0300 300 2300. Just a heads-up, HMRC doesn’t typically ring mobile phones!

Absolutely outrageous! These con artists are masquerading as HMRC representatives. It's utterly shameful!

I've just had three calls in quick succession, all from the same pre-recorded message purporting to be from HMRC, alleging some sort of tax fraud. They tried to frighten me into pressing a key to speak with an officer, threatening arrest if I didn't comply - what utter nonsense! Please, don’t fall for this nonsense. I've already reached out to Action Fraud to report these charlatans! A couple of the numbers they've used are: 0300 200 7605 03684855789 - claiming to be from HMRC, but trust me, they are definitely NOT legit!

I always make it a point to investigate unknown numbers before picking up, so I had a look on this site first. It’s a good practice since I don’t respond to calls from folks not saved in my phone. Cheers for the info about the caller: 0300 300 2300!
