I got a call from a woman with an Indian or Pakistani accent, using the number 03002009229. She claimed she was from HMRE and said I was involved in tax fraud. She warned me that legal action was starting and that they were about to issue an arrest warrant. She mentioned the call was being recorded and told me I could either admit guilt and pay £2600, or try to fight it legally but risk jail and a £30,000 fine. If this number rings you, just hang up. They’re scammers, complete con artists. Don’t fall for it!

Got a call from hmre saying my account was involved in fraud and if I didn’t press 1, I’d get arrested. Thankfully, I’d heard about these scams before and just hung up. I can imagine how scary that must be for elderly folks. Proper disgusting behaviour.

Got a call claiming there was tax fraud linked to me, telling me to press 1 to talk or else I’d be arrested right away with a warrant out for my name. The voice on the recorded message sounded quite posh and formal.

someone called me saying i owed money and to press 1 to speak with them about it? i was totally lost, it didn’t feel genuine. they said it was about money i supposedly owed to hmr. i got really upset as the caller told me i had to pay £1760 or else it’d go to court. he was really harsh, told me to stop crying and then just hung up on me.

Honestly, reporting these numbers to [email protected] really helps. They’re shutting down loads of scam calls. The more people send reports, the more numbers they block, so keep it up!
