I reckon this is a typical HMRC scam call. The number they used had an area code usually given to charities, which makes me think it was faked. I can't imagine Ofcom would hand out those codes to scammers claiming to be from HMRC.

Got a phone call on my mobile from a recorded voice saying HMRC were looking into me and that I’d be arrested unless I hit button 1 to sort it out. Totally a scam! The person on the other end was pretending to be from HMRC.
