Received a letter claiming to be from HMRC but it didn’t have any reference number, only my NI number, name and address. It said I owed them money. When I rang the number on the letter, I got bounced about between different departments, but none of them had any record of that payment. I even tried scanning the QR code on the letter, which weirdly took me to Companies House, where it showed a firm called JGB Group Limited, a cleaning business up in Northern Ireland. Definitely seemed fishy to me.

No idea who’s posting glowing reviews on this number, claiming it’s genuinely HMRC, but it’s a total con, probably the crooks themselves.
