Got a call saying it was HMRC, with an automated voice telling me there was tax fraud linked to my name and to press 1 to talk to an agent or face arrest soon. I was suspicious and didn’t press anything, just ended the call. Later I looked it up online and realised it was definitely a scam. My advice is don’t ever press any buttons during calls like this - just hang up straight away and, if you can, report it to the police or HMRC.

Had a call just before evening from some robot voice telling me I was behind on taxes and to press 1 or I'd be arrested. I hang up straight away and tried calling back, but it just wouldn’t go through. Definitely one of those dodgy scam calls.

After I pressed 1, I got put through to a woman who said they’d been trying to reach me a couple of times and apparently had failed to send official letters. She said I owe them £3200 and gave me two choices - pay up or face court. I only gave my name but somehow they already had my current and last address. Proper worrying! In the end, I just ended the call.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, saying I’d done a dodgy tax return and owed £2800 in fraud. Told them I’m not even self-employed, don’t file tax returns, so this nonsense was obviously a scam. That made her really angry - she started threatening me with the police, saying there’s a warrant out for me and if I interrupted again she'd hang up and I’d be arrested straight away. She even said they’d seize my house, car, freeze my bank account, and it’d be all over the news. I told her to call the police herself because I wanted to speak to them. She put me on hold and I just ended the call. Needless to say, no arrests so far. Reported it all to the police, my bank, and HMRC. These scammers are just disgusting, absolute scum.
