So, this week I got a few calls from the same number - first one was on Wednesday, then another came through yesterday. I missed the call on Wednesday but picked up the one yesterday since the first four digits matched a council number from around here. I also received a call claiming to be from HMRC, which freaked me out a bit, even though all my earnings are handled through PAYE!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC about fraud, I asked her straight up to give me her name and who her line manager was, plus which office she was ringing from. She said London, so I told her I work there as well, then she just ended the call!

This number rang me twice. I ended the first call just before the automated voice started. On the second call, I let it go through and it was an automated message claiming I had a fraud issue with HMRC and to press 1 for more info. Got a call from some bloke in the States trying to scare me about tax evasion, asking if I had a solicitor! It’s a laugh really, as I’m PAYE and actually expecting some money back from HMRC. When I hit '1', I got connected to a guy who sounded Indian but his English was so hard to understand I had to ask him to repeat himself thrice. After the third time, he just hung up on me.
