I’m commenting for my mum here. She got tricked by this number into “adding money to her national insurance” and ended up handing over £370. It’s awful how these scoundrels work. That was all the money she earned this month. Absolutely disgraceful. If anyone gets a ring from this number, DO NOT ANSWER. THESE PEOPLE ARE HORRIBLE!

Got a letter claiming to be from the pension office saying they owe me £11,000 and it'll be paid into my account within a week. The letter told me to call back on one of these numbers if I didn’t get it: 03002003519, 08007310469, or 0464. They’re asking for my bank details, and weirdly, it had all my personal info including my National Insurance number. If you ever get something like this, don’t call them, just report it straight away.

I recently discovered a charge on my bill for this particular number. It's quite puzzling because all my calls are typically free, yet I was billed £4.18 for a 30-second call. I have no recollection of making such a call, so I promptly contacted my service provider to request an investigation into this matter.

My days are just packed with let downs and dashed hopes... I’m really trying to stay positive... but there’s just no vacancies anywhere... Feeling drained, starving and pretty rough... stuck in this cold place with no heating and nothing much to call mine... Sick to death of crappy jobs that pay peanuts... And I’m done getting hired and booted on the spot... INDIAN SCAMMERS... No way am I giving you my BANK details!

Feels like my whole life’s just full of let downs and shattered hopes… I’m trying to stay optimistic, but there’s zero job prospects anywhere… I’m starving, worn out, and underfed… stuck in this freezing flat with no heating and barely any furniture… Sick of grinding away at rubbish jobs that barely pay a thing… And it’s always the same story, getting hired then sacked within hours. ……. Those INDIAN SCAMMERS can forget it - I’m never handing over my bank details to you.

An actual HMRC employee improperly shared my personal details and home address with her boyfriend, putting me and my family at risk of fraud and other dangers. HMRC eventually admitted the breach, but were stubborn about offering any real apology, and let the officer off without proper consequences - now she’s getting a pension paid for by taxpayers. Until HMRC’s management takes responsibility for these governance failings, including this sort of harassment, I’d advise people to steer clear of talking to HMRC either on the phone or in person.

I got a call telling me to press one because apparently I’d done tax fraud and if I didn’t press it, the cops would come and arrest me!!! It was one of those automated messages and only went on for 29 seconds. Obviously I just ended the call, but I can see how freaky that could be for someone who’s more vulnerable. I’ve reported it over to HMRC.

This 0300 number is a pure scam, ignore it completely and just hang up. HMRC would never ring you up, they always send letters instead, so always double-check with them directly. Loads of scammers out there trying to trick you into handing over your cash. If the call is automated, just end it straight away, and if it’s a real person, tell them to shove off.

Received a call today at 3:49pm on 16th October 2019. The caller claimed I had multiple lawsuits against me and wanted me to verify my information. I didn’t give away any details. His tone and manner were suspicious right from the beginning - quite rude and sarcastic. Oh, and he said his name was "Anthony Hopkins" - told me that four times, haha. What’s alarming is that when I checked 1471, the actual phone information popped up, which could easily trick people, especially if they rely on caller ID. Be careful, everyone!

I received a call yesterday, and when I answered, I heard an automated voice stating that I would be arrested for tax fraud. However, I immediately hung up as I recognized it was a scam.

Got a call from someone saying he was ‘frank williams’ from HMRC, telling me I owed about £300 in tax. He spoke with a strong Indian accent so I decided to put on my own accent back at him. Got a call from this number and as soon as I heard that robotic American voice saying "this is a call from," I just ended it straight away. Never had a UK government dept ring me up with an American accent like that. Just dealt with the tax folks recently when I sent in my tax return.

Received a call from this number and it’s definitely a scam. I checked with HMRC and they told me they have no record of any call like that.

Got a call saying it was hmrc and I had to sort out a national insurance thing, plus they said there was a warrant for my arrest. Honestly, these calls are so frustrating.

Says there's an arrest warrant for tax evasion against you. They fake the real HMRC National Insurance phone number. Just hang up and block them, or they keep calling nonstop.

03002003500 Some older woman saying there’s an arrest warrant out for tax evasion. Sounds like a scam to me. Best just hang up straight away.

Those scammy little idiots pretending to be hmrc, they just told me, and I quote, "any genuine call from us will show as unknown number." Seriously, get lost and find some proper work!

‭0300 200 3500‬ rang me but I missed it, looks like it’s a legit HMRC number from what I’ve seen on other reviews. I’d blocked it before but somehow they’ve got through again. Loads of people say it’s a spoof when they get called but if you ring back it’s genuine. Seems like the government must be switching up their contact details or something.

03002003500 keeps ringing me all the time, but it’s definitely not the tax office.

Loads of dodgy calls going about today. Just yesterday, some bloke claimed to be from Citizens Advice and said I was about to get a CCJ put on me. They knew my name alright but when I asked for my address, they couldn’t answer. Plus the caller had a thick Indian accent and from the background noise it sounded like one of those boiler room scams. Used to get calls from “Microsoft” telling me my laptop had a virus alert and if they could log in remotely, total rubbish.

They did not provide a response as they were occupied with another caller on the phone.

Got called twice from different numbers today, both times I just hung up. Same nonsense about a warrant for my arrest or whatever. If HMRC actually wanted to reach me, they’d go through my solicitor with a proper letter. Total scam, these muppets.

14/1/19 Got a call again this week from 03002003500 claiming they were from HMRC and saying theres a warrant for my arrest over tax fraud, told me to press 1 to talk to an officer. I just ended the call straight away. I can see how some folks might get scared and fall for this. These scammers really deserve some serious consequences.

Got called twice this last week from this number. Looks like a total scam to me but I get how some folks might actually fall for it. Utterly shocking behaviour.

this is definitely a scam. if you hit #1 to speak to someone, it likely sends you to a premium line that charges YOU as much as £25 per minute!! it’s a sneaky trick to rip off people. anyone who buys into the message about having an arrest warrant for them (even though they already have your address) is just being foolish.

If you need to sort out something about National Insurance, the best number to call is 0300 200 3500. They handle NI issues from 9 in the morning until 5 in the evening, Monday to Friday. Other HMRC lines usually run from 8 am to 8 pm on weekdays and 8 am to 4 pm on Saturdays. Sometimes the hours might change during busy periods, but whoever you speak to should let you know if that's the case.
