Got the same robocall warning me about some HMRC threat. Honestly, you'd think mobile networks would be able to block these kind of automated calls by now, stop them from going through their systems in the first place.

I’ve just received a rather alarming call suggesting that I’m facing arrest due to a dodgy tax account unless I select option one. Quite the scare tactic, isn’t it?

I picked up the phone since it showed an 0300 number, but then a robotic bloke started saying it was hmrc calling me about some fraud claim. He warned me to press 1 to sort it or I'd be arrested soon. I never pressed 1, so no clue what might've happened if I did, but the message didn't even properly prompt to press 1 at the end. I'm marking it as harassing since I’m unsure if it's legit or some kinda scam. It really freaked me out, especially since I've just updated some info with hmrc recently.

I really think HMRC oughta step in and do something about these threats. They can’t be allowed to get away with that stuff, it must be against the law surely.

Got a robocall saying I’m in trouble with HMRC and gonna be nicked if I don’t press 1. So I did, ended up chatting with this bloke called Michael Foster... or maybe Patel, not sure. Phone’s VOIP so I traced the call, turns out the 0300 number was just forwarded to Mumbai. Had a laugh messing about, gave him some made-up sort code and a random 11-digit account number for a giggle. Pretty obvious scam but entertaining nonetheless. - caller: Fraud

This morning, I got an automated call claiming to be from HMRC, telling me there was a tax issue and a warrant out for my arrest. They wanted me to press 1 and threatened me with serious consequences unless I paid a large sum quickly, like within 45 minutes, over the phone by card. They wouldn’t even let me hang up! Eventually, I realised it was a total scam. Thank goodness I spotted it before anything worse happened. The number showed up as 03002003372.
