Got a call earlier from some automated bloke warning me about a tax fraud issue and telling me to press 1. I didn’t bother pressing anything and just ended the call. Would recommend you hang up straight away too.

When I heard the American accent right away, I felt a bit suspicious. I pressed one to keep the call going, but the woman on the line seemed puzzled and kinda suggested that I’d dialled her. I asked who she believed she was talking to, and she told me the name of the old owner of my number - the same person who must’ve gotten heaps of scam calls and texts. That just made me chuckle, so I hung up and blocked that number straight away.

Total scam, don’t fall for it! HMRC wouldn't ring you up like that. They always get in touch via their official gov.uk website with loads of security checks. Just hang up straight away!

I received a rather alarming phone call earlier, purportedly from the Fraud Division of HMRC. The individual on the line claimed that an arrest warrant had been issued in my name and that I was facing imminent arrest-within the hour, no less! He insisted that I needed to cough up £2,900 immediately, or else the amount would skyrocket to £97,100, and I could be looking at a 5 to 7-year stint behind bars. I find myself sincerely hoping this is merely a hoax, as the whole situation is incredibly distressing and quite frankly, frightening!

Had this strange automated call from an American-sounding bloke telling me there’s been fraud on my name and I must press 1. They said if I don’t press it or the call drops, I’d get arrested. Total nonsense! I rang HMRC straight away to let them know about it. Honestly, everyone should do the same so they realise this scam isn’t just a one-off and they can hunt down these dodgy scammers.
