So I got calls today from someone saying I'd be arrested for tax fraud with HMRC if I didn’t pay £480 straight away over the phone. They rang me like 18 times! What’s more, the calls came from a London number and also one from Iran. Both a bloke and a lady, with strong foreign accents, kept insisting I cough up immediately. Honestly, it was pretty scary.

they always send a letter from hmrc before calling you. theres no personal details asked for, so its just a generic call that could be for anyone who answers. i just leave my phone on and let them waste their time chatting while i get on with other things. btw, hmrc has already made it clear that this is how they operate.
