Today I got a call from 03002003117 claiming to be from 'Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs' saying there was a tax fraud case against me. They told me to press 1 to talk to an agent or else I'd get an arrest warrant. Yeah, no way I pressed it! I also saw I missed a call a few days back from a number close to it, 03002003173. Does anyone know if there's any effort underway to stop these scam calls? I'm worried that older or more vulnerable folks might panic when they hear those threats and end up getting scammed.

I’ve been getting loads of dodgy calls pretending to be from HMRC, the number starts 0300 200 but the last four digits change all the time. It’s like they’ve got endless combos. Don’t press 1 if they ask, could end up with a big phone bill. They’re using VOIP, likely a scam call centre somewhere in India. I got a call from this number and when I picked up, the person claimed to be from HMRC saying I was involved in some fraud case. They told me to press 1 to talk to an adviser or else I’d face charges and arrest. It sounded dodgy, so I just ended the call. Then I rang HMRC using their official gov.uk number and told them what happened. They confirmed it was a scam and told me to block the number straight away.
